Hi. In Soft image it's possible to project a picture onto a model, and map it as its texture. For example you had a picture of your Uncle Joe and a model. You could project that picture of joe onto the model, move the points to the corresponding part of the picture (nose model to nose pic, etc) hit render map and BAM have a texture for the model. Anyone know I can do this in Maya..... please?

just apply your texture with a projection to your model. then go into the hypershade. select your model, shift select your shader and in the hypershade : edit-convert to file texture. look at the options before apply.

That worked really well, thanks :) Have you ever done that without changing your current UV's? Say you had to use one model with one UV map for dozens of different faces. Could you do the same thing without destroying the current UV map?

sorry don't understand what you exactly mean :hmm:

is it destroying your UV's ? it shouldn't do this.

Is there another way to project the pic without using planar map? As soon as I do it changes my original map.

Well you definately got me on the right track. Still haven't got it yet, but I think I can now. Thank you very much.
