View Full Version : Beast of Burden - Character - [swampthing]
swampthing 07-12-2002, 08:38 PM Never done one of these challenges before but i needed a project and wasn't coming up with anything, modellers block i guess. Anyhow, here's my beast in an early modelling stage. Wish i had concepts but i just don't do em. Thinking about giving him some curved type horns, but not sure at this point.

The concept seems pretty cool. Only crit right now would be that the head is too long front-to-back. i'd shorten it up a bit. Good start and welcome to the challenge!

This is the start of what he and his twin are going to be pulling. It's going to be three stories with an open deck on top.

good start, i'm sure its still earlier on, but it seems like the BoB could use a bit more detail in the muscle and bone structure. I really like your building/trailer thing. I look forward to seeing more.

Little further on the beasty, quick render this time instead of a modeller screen grab.

another with it together, everything is just quick cloned, creatures aren't boned yet so i can't make em differently posed from each other. Need to figure out what i'm gonna do with the upper deck walls yet. Was going to cover them with "dragon" scale shingles, but i didn't like how it looked so not sure at this point what i'm going to do with them. Need to build the final roof top yet and then put in the small details.

Not feeling any love here, must really suck or something.

I agree with espaki - could do with some more details on the beasts themselves. There's lots of room for more detail on them too. They sort of look triceratopsy, maybe model in a few bumps and ridges on the top of their necks and their sides aswell.

Also their tails could get more... horny. <- Take that the right way.
Oh, and by the way, I just realised I forgot to say it, it looks really good. Cool design and it's improving alot with every update. Love it!
Don't lose the love man, don't lose the love.

small update, changed the front legs of the bests, like them better now. Going to move on to the small details now i guess. Added some bumps and procedurals just to break up the surfaces a little.

coming along great although much things look too much cloned though. i think you gotta as some irregularity to your scene.
