Wrap Deformer question
I have a medium res mesh with some triangles behind the ears, on top of the head, not many but enough to mess with Mental Ray when I render my displacments.
Because I have to use polys and subD isnt an option I converted to subD collapsed the hierchy to 1 then converted back to polys. I now have all quads but a very heavy mesh. Can I use my lowres poly mesh (with the few triangles) to drive my all quad highres mesh using wrap deformers? I dont want to get too into the process before I learn that there will be problems so I figured I would check in here. I have only seen it done before with a lowres poly object driving a subD object so I havent seen the issue of a few tris in the wrap deformer addressed.

Thanks

you wont have any problems with the tris..

you may have with memory though...

just try it.

Thanks for the reply : )

I am curious what kind of memory issues I may run into. You see am under a very tight deadline so I cant spend too much time with trial and error on an unexplored technique. I was planning on cutting my lowres mesh into parts and using these as the wraps.

If ther are any other reccomendations please let me know.

Thanks

Scott

that will only cause problems and use more RAM....

wraps use a lot of RAM thats all..

just make the wrap, get the max distance down as low as possible (that saves time and RAM) and have a look at the RAM usage, if its cool, your cool, if not... lts fined another solution...
