Hello

I searched some days around on many pages but i cant found a shader which let edges of an object reflect lice an metalic object.
With edges i mean e.g. the edges of an Cube, not the whole object .. just HARD edges.

Is this possible?

I haven't tried this, but have thought about it several times.

use:
Curvaceous v1.0
http://www.highend3d.com/maya/shaders/

I will allow you to make a map based on edges and then you
can use that map in the reflection channel.

I'd be curious if it works.

hmm.. i dont think that shader can do that, since it only take curvature into account, which i guess only works on nurbs surfaces.. and there an edge simply has no curvature..

how about using the vector renderer or mental ray to get an extra renderpass with just the contours and then using that results as a file in for the reflections?
(unfortunately you cant do that in one pass, since it is a post operation on mental and not done in rendertime.)

could work

cheers
