Is there a way to launch Photoshop CS such that the first thing that happens when the program opens is the "open file" dialog window appears?

Not that i myself have ever known to be possible.

But hey?... How hard can it be to simply double-click the work area when the app is open? That opens the "Open" dialog window. ;)

TIP: try using Ctrl and Alt double-clicks too. And in PS CS, try it with Shift. ;)

Heh yeah. The reason is that I work a somewhat involved process to process students into our ID card system as well as our attendance system and I'm trying to automate the system as well as possible because the folks in the office (old folks) start feeling quite dumbfounded when they see a blank screen where nothing happens. I'm trying to cover as many details as possible. =)

hahaha ok i see now. :D

Well you could always create an action to perform that function and set it up to use a specific key/key combo, then just tell those folks that when Photoshop is done opening, just hit "this key".

That shouldn't be too hard to remember, and is less to remember than how the menus work.

lol, the next problem would be this question they asked me before: "How do i know if the program is done loading?" ... lol. The elderly. They should retire and let me do the work.

perhaps you could get it to load an image saying " im done with loading...!"

then you could have one saying "dont leave your chair for another 12 hours due to the risk of electrocution"

then you could have all sorts of fun and games, getting them to perform tricks etc :bounce:

LOL!!!

Well if you just need some sort of a signal to let them know that the loading is finished and if they aren't deaf, and of corse if you have speaker in that computer, you could try to the "Beep when Done" in the preferences.

If you are using a Mac, you could try to use Apple Script to automate the process in conjunction with some actions in Photoshop, that way all they need to do is to drop the files in a folder or something.

I think it's possible to do that Windows as well, but isn't easy to code as it is on Macs.

Another good and simple way is to create a droplet in PS, that way the only thing that they need to do is to drag and drop the files over the PS droplet and voilá!
And maybe you could even design some pretty interface for that with some code app.

or you can re-anable the welcome screen. hopefully by that they'll see the program is ready to work. Though that might not work since they may not know how to close it. But it was just a thought.
