View Full Version : Mouse navigation on a Mac
Gamma_Bomb 07-12-2002, 04:41 PM I don't intend for this to be another Mac vs PC battle, but Apple still hasn't evovled its mouse (if anyone from Apple see's this PLEASE DEAR *insert diety of your choice here* LET APPLE GET A NEW MOUSE!)
I'm getting ready to try out the the Maya PLE on my Mac at home and I realized the whole mouse navigation issue. I had picked up an optical mouse from Microsoft a long time ago. However:
Does anyone know how to rig the mouse up to interact in Maya on a Mac the way it does on a PC? I'm fairly new to the program on a Mac and appreciate any help. Many thanks in advance.

Hope it helps. I'm a PC user, but I'm actually considering getting a G5 when they become available specificly for Maya. I'm sick of my problematic PC, and I don't want to deal with the headache of maintaining Linux. How do you like OSX with Maya? Is it quick and stable?

Check out this site:
www.contourdesign.com
They have the Perfit Mouse, three-button design, it was the mouse packaged in with the first orders of Maya for Mac OS X...
When those folks on the extreme cutting edge of Mac 3D were coughing up about four times the cost of Maya now, and getting a leather jacket also...
They (Contour Designs) also make the ShuttlePRO Multimedia Controller; which has a jog wheel and 13 programmable buttons... And presets for Maya!
Cool stuff...

Thank you so much for the help. This forum is full of good people. I've been a bit of a lurker but I'm going to remedy that pretty soon. I'm student of The Hobbit Guy in Atlanta. Dave's an incredible teacher. Thanks again for the help.
OS X's pretty sweet. I haven't started using it on my G4 yet but I installed it on my girlfriend's machine and it runs like a charm. I'm still waiting on a bit more RAM before I can get things running smoothly. Thanks again.
