Looking good, I love your idea. I'm concerned it may not meet the brief. It's essentially taking a natural scene and just adding robotics. I'd work on your concept. Maybe they're remote controlled by humans, as a game.

See what I'm getting at, you need the twist, to make it stand out.

good luck, can't wait to see more.

i show you how i see the scene!!

of course i will put mechanical part on the fish;
i change a bit the story,( in good advice of people on the forum!)
the dragonfly go fishing, he is the hunter, the fish doesn't no it!!

i can only show one picture, so i will put severals action in the final image, by puting some motion blur...

HERE IS MY STORY FOR MY CHALLENGE!!!!!

in english:

In a far away future, Man has colonized the entire solar system. Estranged from its old belief system, humanity has found itself in a new sect: the cult of the machine and technology. This cult is driven by men who name themselves Priests of the Machine.

The Priests of the Machine are in fact humanity’s greatest scientists, gathered to monitor research, development, as well as system wide distribution of technology. On one hand, these Priests remind humankind of the benefits and semi divine advantages that technology offers. On the other hand, they also are the distributors of that same cybernetic knowledge. These two facts are what make the Cult of the Machine the widest spread religious organization the solar system has ever known.

On each planet able to support life, the Priests build temples that serve both as places of cult and universities: places where faith is taught alongside practical science. Cybernetic implants on the human body, from reinforcements of muscle tissue to bionic organs, are now common place. It is not uncommon to see a disciple replace a biological organ by a cybernetic equivalent to prove the person’s unwavering devotion to the cult. For many, the conversion of these body parts to cybernetics components creates a direct link with the God of the Machine, and those that choose to undergo serious reconstruction are designated as the chosen of the Cult.

Inside the temples are ecosystems which are reproduced to accommodate animals modified through cybernetic means. These creatures are sacred to the Cult of the Machine. They are the personification of the current level of technological prowess of the Priests. The process of creating and enhancing these animals through cybernetics is extremely complicated and, therefore, prized. The better one of the animals performs, the greater the glory for its maker(s).

The Cult of the Machine sustains a great rivalry between its priestly orders, which are many: Such a maneuver maintains a high motivation factor for its priests in order to outdo each other and push forward the field of cybernetic R&D.

In order to compare the order’s relative knowledge and efficiency, the sacred residents of the ecosystems augmented by cybernetic means are used. Each order chooses an animal, which becomes its totem and must be enhanced by the priests. Following, the priestly orders meet and arrange fights between these symbolic mascots in an arena, inside the temples. The winner finds its territory in the solar system enlarged, and is allowed to propagate the faith under its own banner. This is how the Orders extend their influence and strengthen their power on the divine kingdom of Mars, sacred land of the faith and center of the cult.

The most respected and powerful priestly orders are those of the Frog, the Lizard, the Mantis, the Turtle and the Spider. Each of the orders possesses its own doctrine, a particular point of view on the sacred texts as well as a specific scientific specialty. Besides those major priestly orders, gravitate tens of minor orders trying to gain influence lacking however the possession of human, technological and monetary resources of the big players.

The scene illustrates the confrontation between the order of the Fish and that of the Dragonfly, both arch rivals. The prize: Control of Charon University, moon of Pluto; it’s
quite a morsel which could possibly propel the winner to the rank of Major Order. Each of the animals have and illustrate the best of the “know how” the order in question possesses. They have weapons and abilities which reflect the order’s doctrine and which will allow it to defeat its enemy. The victory of a particular side is determined when its adversary is either incapacitated or destroyed. Such a contest allows the cult to fairly and accurately preserve, even in its most mystical aspects: the confrontation of two sacred animals under the watchful eye of the god of the Machine itself, a practical outcome: May the best one win.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hope your enjoy!!!!!

Yeah... great job... to funny !

I like so much the textures interior of the fish mounth and the littles teeth :D

The idea of the minigun is very good too, and perhaps you can do more visible the canopy on the eyes of the dragonfly.

We feel very well the movement, it's a good point

Just two crits, the fins on the sides of fish are a little too coarse and weird... maybe a better texture... you see what I mean ?
and the eye, a little bit too flat

Hi Jeremyboy!

Nice composition and above all, nice modelling :) Man I just started highpoly stuff and it's tough for sure...

Anyway, back to your entry. As I said before it looks really nice, but I have two crits, if I may :)

1 . the fish
Looks good and nice texture, but I think the mouth area could have more tension, if you see what I mean. It's gonna be the main point of focus, hence maybe you could suggest the muscles underneath the skin around the mouth a bit more. Same think about the "wings" or whatever these things are called :) Could be done in Z2 maybe?

2 . The dragonfly
Also very good, but maybe the color contrasts are a bit strong? this orange against this bright fluo blue... Dunno. But I know that's the way you like this :)

Anyway, cool work once again! Can't wait to see this completed :)

Later my friend

Only two things don't agree me...

- the color of the water... with the violet light on the fish... or change this color by a green... maybe better for the environment...

- the stone, too simple, too spheric...

Yeah man... I think now, it's G.R.E.A.T.

Colors are better (for me)... we feel more the movement... and the new framing is fantastic... better value for the scene.

I like so much... an awesome artwork for sure, and principally, it's finish in time, I'm happy for you

And then, good luck...

thanks, and you know what i think about your work.....

LEMOG:
i don't think it's great, because i don't work enough on the back, and my friend tells me that we saw the mouvement better in the hold render!!

By the way i give you a wallpaper:

You make an error... I know you don't work enough time on it... and you speed to finish in time.. but I think you find an harmonic way in the final picture, with some beautiful color... that's all :D
