verti 07-12-2002, 01:07 PM welcom again!
few days ago i asked about maya complete capabilities... now i ask... about it's renderer. i have not seen many renderings made with maya built-in renderer. can you give me some urls with examples of what can be done with MAYA - not fG, BMRT etc...

download my Star Wars pod-race movie from Pixelito Animation (http://pixelito.tripod.com). It's on the projects page. The entire film (besides the text scroll) was created in Maya, using Maya's native renderer. It's a bit marred due to the compression, but it gives a nice idea.

it's not always easy to determine what has been rendered with the native renderer and where maya has just been used for modeling and animation

yes,it is a big problem, you can't see the image when rendering!
also, you can't do other things when you just render one frame,or
the render window will become white ,though it it will appear at theend, but i don't want to be!!
When you see anything on the net made with Maya, 95% of the time the default renderer did it. I've noticed that not many people are using things like Mental Ray and PRman because no renderer supports Maya completely, and let's face it, even with translators you can't use Mental Ray or any Renderman based renderer effectively in Maya unless you can program. Whenever someone uses a non standard render they seem to go to great lengths to make sure you are aware of it, so anything you see that is done in Maya, you can safely assume was rendered in Maya.

- fall in love with the manuals
- check out the tutorials from the sticky thread - even if you can't follow them completely - they are great for getting a sense of "how can i do this in maya"
