There is a flag in the Render -> Common window that says "Render hidden geometry"

I guess that'd work.. but what if I have other stuff hidden, that needs to stay hidden, like some ref objects, or ground plane...
I can think of a million situations that having a "viewable only at render time" option would be very help full.

Can't you just put your cards on a seperate layer that you just turn on at render time? :)

I dont' want to have to turn it on before I render each time.. and layers suck in MAX...

..just a sidenote...yes I'm not a big fan of the layers in Max either. :P But if you use the Onion Layering script from blur it's a whole heck of a lot easier. :)

Do you have a link to this? It sounds very cool, I did a quick google search but came up with nothing. :hmm:

Blur's The Onion (http://www.blur.com/Tech/zip/theonion.zip)
Rezn8's Layer Manager (http://www.rezn8.com/gearhead/freeware/LM3.zip)
Both are pretty similar although the Onion has more options.
note: both are direct links to D/L a zip file

another option may be to make them transparent. by default this is Alt-X, so select your cards, hit alt-x and they should go transparent, making them less obtrusive, but still there.
and yes, The Onion rocks.
