View Full Version : A rendering with toxic - an open source global illimination renderer

Hi,

I have tried to do some tests with toxic (http://toxicengine.sourceforge.net/index.php) during past week end and here is what I came up with:

Here is an preview of what is toxic:
"toxic is a physically correct global illumination renderer aiming to produce photorealistic images and animations.
toxic's goal is to provide artists with a free, powerful rendering tool which is actively maintained, developed and extended."

Thanks to the creator of this rendering engine, I exported my own model from 3dsMax in ase format, then tweaked a bit parameters of the scene to get this rendering.

real nice. But not real life yet. The shadows look like GI still, as GI has it's own look. Real life looks well, different. It just has that sort of something that makes it real. Till then everything else is still 3d design.. Keep at it :D

The renderings may look a little flat and CGish because I put just basic environment and lighting. As I play with toxic since 3 days, I hope to better understand it and make more in depth testings soon.

Here is another render done with toxic with a model scanned by Jotero:

The model looks like orange skin, but original model is that way.
I'll post updates as soon as I have some new images done.
