This is obviously a very rough model. He will definately need some work. Stay tuned.

Very nice beastly design. The head looks like a cross between a lion, horse, and dog. It has charactersitics of each I think. Good stuff so far. Do you have any drawings of this BoB?

I do have some concept sketches, but I will have to post them later when I have access to a scanner.

I have been a little hard pressed for time, so sorry about the delay. This is still a rough version of what my BOB will look like without a harness. I have yet to post my concept sketches.
I almost miss your work!looking good so far!jeep going man.

very nice model actually!:) but i would think about makin the fingers a bit thicker. i think such a big monsters would look strange with such small hands/fingers.
but i'm already waitin' for an update!!:bounce:

Wow, yeah that's looking great! I think he needs a tail though - to balance the weight of the top of his body.
Otherwise, he's looking very cool

I am going for more of a gorilla body type, but I am undecided on whether to give him a tail. But as for derwolpertinger, I do plan on thickening his hands up. He still needs quite a bit of work. Thanks for your comments guys, and I will try to post more tonight or tomorrow.

Dude....very nice lad!!!!
wow, this is a great character! love it
Love the flow of his head, with the ears back he really looks sleek.
Any ideas on how or what he is going to be carrying/pulling/pushing?
Love the modelling on the hands and feet too, but my only query would be whether the human hands suit him or not.
Great work though, beautiful modeling.

I am sorry guys, I have not had alot of time to work on him. Expect something much more detailed on the next post, possibly this weekend. Oh and I am undecided on the hands, I know they look lame. I am still not happy with the model. I also have a pretty good idea of what he will be pulling. Thanks for all of your input.

Here are a few renders of progress, but I haven't included the burden. I am far from finished, but this is where I am right now. Suggestions anyone? The hands are quite a bit different now although not finished. I will probably add quite a bit more detail. Sorry it took so long to post, it has been storming around here, so I haven't turned on my computer for 2 days.

Well Guys, this is where it all starts. I am really looking for criticism, so please have at it. I am still not nearly finished, so go easy. I will be adding a midevil wagon on the back that will some how tie in with the theme. I know my last post was weak, but please tell me what you think of this one.

KnightWhitie,
This looks so fantastic! The design is top notch and the character is well proportioned, giving him a great sense of balance and weight. His clothing looks great, and he's oozing attitude.
I only have a couple of crits. Really this is a comment, but I don't really like the new hands as much as the old. The old hands had an elegance and power to them. The new ones seem oddly balanced. They're thicker, but from the front render, they don't look like they'd be that functional. The hands are really an aesthetic thing, though, so go with your gut. Just wanted to register my vote. :)
The only real crit I have is in the last render. The frontmost forearm has some grooves in it. They look like they're supposed to be veins, but they're going into the arm as opposed to sticking out. That and they're too big. If it's a bump map, just take the strength down a bit.
The crits are nothing overall, though, as this is a fine piece! Keep up the great work!

you should give him a big fin instead of having feet.. that would look awesome ! maybe add a naked chick riding in the cart and have the cart's wheel fall off..
thats just my two cents..

Steve, thanks for your comments and crits. I made a mistake on the vein bump map for the arms. They are actually inverted, and the strength is up way to high. The hands I changed purely because five fingers were just too humanoid. I originally made them that way because I was going for a gorilla feel. Although I agree with you, I probably won't change them because of the humanoid factor. Thanks again for your imput, I will post again tonight.

I figured you changed them because of the humanoid factor, but thought I'd mention it just in case you were experimenting with alternatives. :)
Looking forward to your next post!

thank you maple for your two cents, but I think the naked chick might be a little much, but the wheel on the cart, now thats a good idea
he looks like that frontman of metallica, whatshisname.
cool.

You are right!
It's James Hetfield himself!

To be honest: Your beast is a brash copy of James Hetfield. I am thinking about contacting the mods in order to force the disqualification of your beast...

Nice job Forbes! Whats really cool is I know you can make him move. A talent not drawn by all...they should make it a requirement. Anyone can spend a million polygons or nurbs to make something LOOK cool...but can they make it come to life?....probably not. I know you can. Great job!:applause:   :buttrock:

Hey Guys,
I haven't had alot of time to work on him, but here he is so far.
I am working on the contraption a bit more, and fine tuning the beast. The final render should be alot cleaner, and more detailed. Thanks for all of your feed back. Much props to Suckafoo!

Thank you Artifex, I don't understand where everybody gets the time to work on these challenges. I have seen such beautiful work come from this forum. Oh well, I more or less wanted to put my name on the board. I will try to find time for future challenges
