i read in this article (http://mag.awn.com/index.php?article_no=774&page=1) in animation world magazine something regarding CGI studio being patented ("The company's patented renderer"). I know pretty much what Pixar's patents are about, but what the heck does these Blue Sky Studios patents cover??
If it´s got something to do with direct rendering of nurbs-surfaces, how does it relate to messiah:render and realsoft 4D? as far as i know, they´re not tesselating either. they´re talking a bit about sampling real-world materials and lighting too.. hmmm.. anyone have a clue?
jens.
