hi,

im currently working on my first big 3D project: an animated short (title: heavy weight)! i feel the urge to get some (your) opinions of what i have got so far.

these stills you see here are finished so i think its ok to post them in finished work.

below a render of the stage at a certain part of the plot and another render of the same location.

the whole short will take me at least a few months more to produce.

c&cs would be GREAT!

thx a lot,
johannes

ps: the weird-ladder thing is intentional

cmon, i cant believe there is just NOTHING to say. i spent so much time on it, one or 2 comments would be fine. just tell me what makes this thing so uninteresting.

i really like the style, but as a poster, it doesn't really say much about your story. i'm really curious as to why the first image is all bright and happy while the second image is dark and creepy (i'm enjoying both!) hope to hear more on this project :D

well, the whole plot is accompagnied by a change in the atmosphere/conditions, going seamlessly from bright and beautiful to grey, dark and misty. what you see on the renders are the 2 extremes which mark beginning and end of the short. thats why also the poster is divided into these two (see here (http://www.3dnspiration.com/mma1/plagatt.jpg) ).

thx,

you have 2 complete opposite styles in your work, which aren't working too well together. Your design, colors, shapes, seem to be a cartoon/comic style. But you use photo realistic textures on your model. Especially the roof, they look really off. The lighting also looks off. I like your cloud a lot, you should texture your model to make it match that cloud.

You put your sun in the back so clearly, your whole scene should look like silhouette with rim lights, there's no way we'll see it this bright from this angle and those shadows shouldn't be there.

For work in progress it would be better to ask for c&c in the WIP forums. This is the finished works section after all.

thx for the reply. i think i know what you mean, and that is a very good point. what i wanted to achieve is a mixture between comic and real style, creating something new. why is the roof looking off? could u tell me what u mean?

G.Rodi: thx a lot! im glad u like it.

thx a lot for your comments until now, they provide motivation.
i'm currently trying to rig the protagonist (my first REAL rig) and i hope i'll be able to post a render soon.
