View Full Version : visibility expression
plasmaworX 04-15-2004, 11:06 AM hello people!
is it possible to have an expression assign the visibility of an object to one specific camera?
'this object can only be seen (and rendered) by camera 'cam' ?'
how would you have to do it?
thanX for viewing!

Kludgy answer - if you stick a transparent plane with a refractive index of 1.001 over the camera you want to render the object, then give the object a comp tag with 'seen by camera' deselected and 'seen by rays' left on, then only that cam will see the object!
Of course it will also turn up in reflections, and you'll need anti-aliasing on 'best'... like I said, a bit kludgy.
Hopefully a guru will now arrive with an elegant expression and make me look silly...

I think I would devide the rendering. Have all the objects that would be unvisible under a Null and just hide them while rendering that specific camera. Then just comp the different render together.
If you would like to do it it one go use the sceneobject for animating what camera to use and also animate the display tag for each element that youŽd like to hide. Seemes like more work though..

-> tcastudios: well, that's about what i'm doing now, but it's kind of a pain, so i thought: 'there's gotta be a simpler way...'
nevertheless, thanx for answering!
