Hi,

I'm using unlimited on a computer here at school and I think I killed cloth... Regardless of what i do or how simple the scene, when i attempt to add a colission object to cloth, it says that the cloth cannot be added to solver1. Local simulations work, but playing the scene fails every time, even if it's just a square of cloth and a sphere. It will calculate at most one frame worth of cloth and then just do nothing. I even uninstalled and reinstalled Maya, but the problem didn't go away. :hmm: This stuff was all working before. All I did was install the Joint Factory, which is just a mel script, so this is weird. Any thoguhts?

Thanks,
-Colin Theys

I've investigated further and it's worse than i thought. If I create a square, make it a garment and press play, nothing happens at all!! Forgive me if this is a really stupid question. I've trained myself quite effectively in using cloth, but I don't understand the operatings of Maya well enough yet to debug. I read the entire cloth portion of the manual and searched online extensively to no avail. It's as if the solver is disabled (but it isn't). i'm trying to find a valid alias support number from someone here, but am getting circular phone calls. If anyone knows what's up, I would really appreciate the help.

Thanks,
-Colin Theys

PS: here's an example file in case it's something I'm doind wrong (although I've been doing it right ever since v5 came out and I'm not doing anything differently...)

Alright, I solved the problem... I uninstalled Maya and then manually removed all of its directories and remaining registry entires, rebooted, and reinstalled. Now it works again... Weird. I still don't know what caused the problem.
