Hey all,
Finally finished this guy, went from lazy sunday project to demo reel piece. The original purpose was an anatomy study but then I thought it'd be fun to turn it into my favorite SF2 character.
He weighs in at 5626 tris, has 2x512 maps and one 256 map.
Modelled in Lightwave, UV'd in MAX, textured in Photoshop with a bit of Ghostpainter help for seams.
Obviously, this character is copyright Capcom :)
Cheers!

Wow dude - that's pretty sweet.
You've really captured the essence of the 2d character!
I can't wait till you post finished versions of ALL the other Street Fighter characters...maybe sometime next week?
Looking great!

hey dirt!
nice work man!
love your texturing. SF is my all time favorite game!
great model and good job on the texture but to me, the skin of your character needs a little more saturation and more red tones..and maybe you can add more depth to the muscle..it looks like there is almost only muscle main lines and no depth..(don't know if I'm very clear on that..hope so..)
hope it helps

if he's missing his eye, then he has to have the scar on his chest since Ryu did them both at the same time.
otherwise, pretty cool looking, and looks like it might fit in well with a console game.

Thanks for the comments guys :)
AKAI - I actually had things more cut-in but I found it distracted too much from the face, so I toned things down as I moved up the body, soul calibur 2 style (everything above the abs gets weaker). His tiny face seemed to get lost. Give me some specifics and I'll be happy to play around with it though.
Sugarbear - *SF2 NERD ALERT* Actually Ryu did the scar later. Dan Hibiki's father was responsible for the eye. ;)

Of course, Sagat rulez, but anyway,
It's lacking style. Street Fighter definitely has a particular graphic style, and pretty much you turned him into a generic guy. The textures are lacking major detail (which is where low poly models start to look sweet).
Also, I'm not thinking (due to the lack of modeling detail) that this model should be 5000 tris. Maybe a wireframe pic will prove me wrong there.
The abs and chest really look goofy.
The best part I think is the back due to the amount of muscle lumps you have going on. The model deforms well there too

I'm going to have to agree with Plays 4 Pants...that does seem a little poly heavy. Any chance we can see some wires?
Model still looks very good, though :).

Could you at least tell me why the abs and chest look goofy? :)
Should I add more lumps? ;b
I'l throw up some wireframes in a bit, but mainly he was modeled to be well-rounded in terms of how the light plays off him, good silhouette (crucial for animation) and deforming well when animating. I pre-rigged him before texturing so the polys are pretty much where I need them.
As far as detail, if I wanted to carve in the abs individually, the back 'lumps' and the quads I would have had to throw on another 1000 polys.
The hands are probably a bit heavy for what people expect, but I wanted his fists to ball up nice and meaty.
His face is about soul calibur in terms of flexibility for expressions.
Sorry you're not happy with the style, but I felt it was a happy medium between his alpha 3 character and realism. Everything tends to look bland when you take a cartoon and convert it into a realistic character. I remember seeing some airbrushed SF2 characters in one of my art books, they looked absolutely awful because it was ultra-real.

good modeling man. i'm replaying through sf and got stuck on him
you might not care but isn't the patch on the worng eye, and the bandages on his feet and ankles are connected.

nice work! but i wonder if 5000 tris would be too high if it s an actaul gaem play? but of coz u most probably doing it for your own pleasure : )
i like the definition on his face. do show us your texture map please : )

Looks nice but its too choppy. I played TEKKEN, Soul Calibur and Virtua figter, and the character there has more polys. This sagat now look like he is form a strategy game or something.
No offence man it rellay looks decend.
