heh, here's another wip from me. Started this mother a couple weeks ago. I'm working at 11x17in. dimensions. hope to have most of the movie characters in there soon. Paying homage (is that the right word?) to Masamune shirow's style. I'm still trying to get my own style down and this is sort of an exercise in that. BTW The background was made in Maya if anyone noticed. I'm trying to learn that too. Thanks for crits keep in mind this is less than half done still! I also need to pull the main characters at the bottom into focus much more.

Oh, I am sorry man.
Can you put a smaller one up?
I'm a 56k6 modem and I'm not gonna wait 500k.

Forget that. It's been downloaded now.

Ehm... your composition looks really fragmented. Try to loose some space between the ceiling and the characters. Put some color in the ceiling and above all; pick a lightsource. Most sensible and most powerfull would be lighted from the back, and from a low angle.

cheers, jeroentje

Oh and one last tip; if you're gonna put text in a drawing, save that for last, so you can play around with it a bit.

THANK YOU! YOU'RE A GOOD MAN!:applause: ok I fixed some of the things you told me. I don't want to turn this into a full WIP thread, I wanted to get a little feedback on the first stage. there will be more characters added soon I think. thanks again. here's a smaller image if anyone has the time. http://sv1.3dbuzz.com/Upload/i10447Resevil5_copy.jpg

Oh boy, in that case I'm lookin forward to your reaction to this post... :D

I thought I could make myself a bit more clear in a (very, very rough sketch).
So the characters now have a relation to there environment, and the lighting makes sense now. There is also a tension between the scene and the text now.

Hmmmm. I think I'm starting to understand. I'll try to fix everything you told me soon. right now I need sleep. I was locked out of my house last night and I had to sleep in the yard. I didn't sleep however.

Hey Cockofthewok!

You are getting the hang of it lately! I think the concept is really nice though perspective and composition are really off. The character need to be bigger and the center of your eyes attraction. You try to use more layer of shading and highlights...

Bring it more together and keep it coming!

Thanks Sangotten! I guess I just needed to lower the image size since it seemed to take entirely too long to d/l before. Yeah, as soon as I finish coloring the characters I'll work more on the composition since I'll have to merge the layers down. I wonder if in Photoshop 7 you can move multiple layers w/o having to merge?

All you have to do to move multiple layers is link them. Click on the little box next to the eye (visibility) symbol of the layer you want to link to (in the layers palette). This will link all moves and transformations until you unlink them again.
