Hi, I've searched the forums but haven't found anything related to my question.

If any of you have experience exporting a rigged (and animated) arm (for first person view) into the UnEditor for UT2k4, do you know if it's possible to use group nodes within the joint hierarchy (i.e. should it work ok in UEd)? The rig I'm working on has the hand joint living within two group nodes parented to the wrist, and the fingers live inside a group node parented to the hand. Maybe a picture will help:

It's a nice rig, but some of the animation I did on it gets messed up when I bring it into UEd so I'm trying to narrow down the cause.

Any help or input appreciated!

To answer my own question, don't use group nodes! I got rid of all of them, re-exported and it's working a lot better now. I guess it boils down to "make sure you're using a clean hierarchy where child joints are not grouped".

Now, on to figuring out why the lighting on the duped mesh changed. I scaled it in -Z to make a right arm. Seems to have kept all the UV info (the texture looks fine, just lit on the wrong side), and the Normals are okay.

Hey, a picture!
