View Full Version : character: ISO
gf666 04-14-2004, 07:48 AM yo!
well this is the first time i post some work of my own (and it's about time!!). I haven't got that much experience in MAX so please go a bit easy on me...
The character is called ISO, i hope you can relate from it's shape that he is a "film-can" (is that the right word???i don't know) which came to life.
well id like to hear what you think about it because i have plans to re-make the whole thing (better textures, mesh etc) the hands and feet could use more detail and fine-tuning. It was the first real texturing job also so gotta work on that too...
cya greetings GF

Really good for little experience. A couple things I would watch out for are how the fingers join eachother on the hands. For characters, typically you will want a wider, smoother spacing for finger-webbing. As far as the texture goes, I think the label should be a little smoother, just blur your bump map a bit, and tighten up the specularity. And I think the eye lids should be the same for continuity. And maybe a little less contrast on the black part of the case. It's good to break up the colour, but make it a little more subtle. Other than that, not much else I can suggest, other than keep it up!

The arms and legs need more work, you might wanna look for a tutorial about legs and arms. The film casing looks nice, though the bumpmap is a bit overdone. I thought the sticker was always a flat surface.
Succes ermee!

It´s funny
Rebuild details of the spheres and eyes´curves, that do not see lines, only perfectly curves.
You can put on the texture the number iso of the film, you can make more characters, iso 100, iso 400...

you should project other methods of rotation in elbows and knes becouse i don't how he rotate the arm - he don't have muscles :) make it like in robots or mechanical suff... its my objection/opinion :) make it as you want :) generally looks nice

thnks perkar!
i know what you mean about bending the arm and knees. i've thought about making them mechanical but i wanted to create a character which looks like some kind of toy for little kids..
but maybe an more adult version with mechanic augmentations, some flesh growing over its metal joints. behind a mounted machine gun shooting all the non-fuji costumers...and..then....
ehrrr..where was i?

That looks like it would be some fun to animate! Looking at him now, the eyes seem to shiny in comparison to the rest, but not major critiques here.
