I just got a tablet and painter 8 a week ago and I am trying to get the hang of it. These are the first coupla little sketches I did.
What I really need advice on is my lines. How do you get those nice tight illustrative lines? Is it just practice and a lot of confidence or is there a process?

I posted it up on deviantart.com

Great start, way better than my first tablet drawing (it was so bad I almost give up digital drawings!)

I used to overlap my lines alot because the first line always seems to curve the wrong way, thus creating a very messy line work (which i still do even though I kept telling myself not to). One way is to work on a big canvas, then shrink the size after you're done, that cleans up alot of messy lines. But I still think a lot of practice is the key. From the look of your first tablet drawing, you have potential. Bet you can draw way better on paper.

Keep it up! Welcome to CGTalk! =)
