Just saw this link on another site, and wow. I've just started playing around with it (a little weird at first) but this thing is pretty damn cool. Lots of control over the generation, and then export out as a map to your program of choice.

I think this is the same engine featured recently in Computer Graphics World. It was by a guy out of Washington State University, but I'm not sure.

They had a big long article about this thing in CGW with an example of the Great Wall of china being done from a single image...

Pretty amazing, I thought. http://www.cgw.com (very cool free magazine, BTW)...

looks very promising. Actually I would love a dual render pipeline in my programs. Where you render different parts of the scene with different renders. I would then use terragen for environment rendering. Of course this must be a programming nightmare to co-ordinate all the lights and shadows etc with one another.

Wonder if A|w is gonna ever put Terraformer into Maya...?!?

I remember screwing around with it back in the PowerAnimator v6.5/7.0 days... Somewhere in there... But even the Onyx chugged away on those frames...
