View Full Version : Error message when saving.
DeletedPenguin 04-13-2004, 09:50 PM I'm getting a weird error message when I try to save using "Save for Web".
"Could not complete this operation because an assertion has failed."
Any idea what this means and how I can fix it? Thanks for your feedback in advance.

hmm...sounds like a program error...clueless apart from a reinstall might fix it.

If your comfortable going into the registry do the following.
If your not familiar with editing the registry then have someone do it who is.
Delete the following key:
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Save For Web 3.0"
Then it will work again.
A re-install won`t solve the problem. There is some connection between possible spyware running on your system and this bug.
Run adaware or some similar to debug yer system of spyware...then delete the key....and it should work fine again.
good luck

That's a bizarre problem. I wonder if Adobe are aware of this?

I think I have seen this error when available memory was low

I'm working on 2gb of memory. That, I would hope, is not the problem.

I guess you should try what Bedro suggests.. I would also reccomend running System Mechanic as it removes spyware adn unneccessary registry keys

I don`t want to sound flippent here......but 9 times out of 10 if you google your problem you`ll find your answer.
Anyways...I `ve known several people with this problem...and this fix works. If the offending spyware returns so will this bug....you really need to be aware of what`s on your system and why it`s there....
good luck to you....
