View Full Version : Window un-moveable. top is off screen
nervouselk 04-13-2004, 09:56 AM ok I have my file browser window open and some how the top of the window is off the top of the screen. This means I can not move or close the window down as I cant access the drag bar. Does anyone know how to move the window away from the top of the screen so I can get the drag bar back?

Haha. Windows's design aint that good, is it? I had this problem quite a few times in the past and I have no idea how to get around this "feature".

thanks for the help!
I know you can get round this I have done it years ago, just have forgotten.
Pressing "F" a few times might solve, if not select "Window > Arrange > Cascade".

tried reset window positions to default in prefs?
Good call Halo
If your problem is with tool palettes then definitly you should do what Halo said. Another good thing to do is to save a workspace preset, then when something like that happens all you need to do is call this preset to reset your palettes to their original position stabilished by you.

change your monitor resolution...if you're lucky, the window will be in a different position, then you could just set the resolution back to whatever it was beforehand.
put a sharp metal object (such as a pin or knife) onto the screen... and drag it down with that... works for everyone.
If none of the above helps you could always try...
1, WindowMenu>Workspace>Reset Palette Locations (PS7)
2, Almost FINAL resort would be to delete you prefs file by loading Photoshop then quickly holding down Ctrl&Alt&Del.
3, FINAL resort would be a reinstall.

Go to the store.
Buy a new OS.

I have to switch between dual monitors and single monitor now and then. Something that helps me, besides using workspaces, is this...
1. Make sure focus is on the window.
2. Alt-Space.
3. Arrow down to Move.
4. Enter.
5. Press an arrow key.
6. Left-click mouse.

That would be my recommendation outside of Photoshop. If you can see the taskbar button, right-click on it, then select move, then use your arrow keys to move it around. After the first arrow press, you can move it with your mouse.

Another way is to CTRL+ALT+- (MINUS key). Simple and works!
