View Full Version : qemLOSS2 Problem?
r0ssr0ss 04-11-2004, 07:06 AM for some reason it wont work?
i have a model thats 83680 polygons
i click the layer its on (with a blank layer beside it of course) then i click qemLOSS2 and enter a number like 600 in the goal in polygons and i set perserve mesh quality because i want to keep it the same and i leave all other settings at default.
i press enter and it processes for a few seconds then it creates the new layer as if it worked but the new layer is just a copy of the first one. with the same 83680 polygons?
why isn't it actually working?
it never has on any model?
i want to practice normal mapping but if i cant reduce polygons its kind of pointless.
please help. thx!

Have you tried qemLOSS3? It's a much improved version that supports weight and UV maps amongst other things - it's not free but all the author requests is for you to send him something LightWave-related (a model, scene, surface preset etc.) in exchange: http://amber.rc.arizona.edu/lw/qemloss3.html
Speaking of normal mapping - he's also got a cool *free* normal mapping plugin on his site too...
Yeah, I recommend too that you get qemLOSS3. It's almost as powerful as the Lord Allmighty himself :buttrock:

i have the normal map plugin and i saw the qemLOSS3. but im still a noob with lightwave, i doubt i have anything he'd want?
i tried searching the internet for someone who already got it off him and has it for download but there was no luck with that.
so i dont know how i'd get qemLOSS3?

Well, the author isn't out to make anything out of this so why not send him an email, explain that you're a newbie, ask nicely for the plugin and attach whatever you've done with LightWave so far that you like the best - he can only say no but in my experience he's a great guy so I doubt he would...

You're not supposed to type in % - the example says "0.5 for 50%" - if that doesn't work can you post a link to the model so I can check it out? Have you read the docs through on qemLOSS2's homepage?

i tried it by typing 70%, .7 , even how many i wanted like 550.
nothing worked, and uploading the model wouldn't help, i've tried it on many models, even downloaded ones.
i got a responce from the creator of qemLOSS3 and hopefully i can get a version of that, maybe the newer version will work?
