Emmanuel Charon has entered the Machineflesh 2D Challenge.
04-09-2004, 10:21 AM
this my first sketch for this contest.
The script is : Foxes and gooses are (maybe) the only survivors on Earth.
I'll try to draw this in a funny way...
-Sorry for my poor english-
04-09-2004, 10:27 AM
hehe , good choice , especially the fox , that's pretty original :)
04-14-2004, 08:33 PM
Here are some studies for my goose-o-matic. I think they should look like a mix between flesh and mechanical lego parts.
04-14-2004, 08:35 PM
The mechanical lego part for the leg.
04-14-2004, 08:38 PM
The gosse' head may be the only flesh part of this animal.
04-14-2004, 08:46 PM
The story is going to be more complex (and more silly, too):
- Years ago, two kids manipulated gooses to build a soccer team. This team would beat all the soccer teams in the world, but... soccer was not enough for this these animals. A world war occured between the gooses and the mechanical foxes who were created to eradicate the threat. That's all for the moment.
--- sorry, there's no fox at this time, they're comming soon.
04-14-2004, 09:24 PM
Pretty cool- it's great that you're bringing in a fresh idea!
I can't wait to see the foxes....
04-14-2004, 09:45 PM
dey kill da foxis ????????? NOOOOO!!!
o I think also first idea was way more
silly than fox - goose soccer .. umm ..
quickedit : wild action scene that last pic ,
cool !
04-15-2004, 08:30 AM
My firs concept for the foxes. Maybe too "hard science" ...
04-15-2004, 10:51 AM
Very nice concepts ! These are very funny I think you totally get the point ! But I don't think you need them to play soccer ...
04-15-2004, 12:43 PM
In fact, I don't really think that soccer will be the main point of my final picture.
But there will be some of "ancient" sport "artifacts" like shoes, balls, etc.,
-- Actually, I'm not a soccer addict --
04-16-2004, 08:06 AM
 Cool fox - really funny!!!
04-16-2004, 08:19 AM
yea I like the the fox design , knew I would :) , thanks :)
05-03-2004, 11:23 PM
After a couple of weeks, going back to the picture.
05-03-2004, 11:27 PM
Added some gooses but foxes are still missing. I'll draw them chasing and surrounding the whole group.
05-04-2004, 01:19 AM
Ye,this is really a great & funny idea!!like this last sketch a lot!,and yes,ithink that(even if he is great:)that the fox is a little 2 hard science
05-04-2004, 06:13 AM
This is beautiful. I love the concept and the design as well. I can't wait to see more. Amazing, simply amazing!
05-04-2004, 10:24 AM
wow, I really like that last sketch :buttrock:
05-04-2004, 11:04 AM
Great pic. You have really captured the movement well. Can't wait to see more.:applause:
05-04-2004, 12:08 PM
Excellent design and style! Wow, there's so much talent in this forum. Has a nice whimsical feel to it. Can't wait to see some paint! Cheers!
05-04-2004, 10:37 PM
Started some composite with other drawings of my foxes. Not sure that I'll keep the entire frame.
05-04-2004, 10:46 PM
A mix between artline and colouring.
I'm still searching for the best composition. I think the "master Goose" will add some impact. And sorry for the tiny cute foxie... She's too hungry ;-)
P.S. : thanks a lot for all your comments.
05-05-2004, 09:05 PM
I'm wondering if I shouldn't try a more peaceful picture.
05-18-2004, 08:23 PM
It seems that some of my previous pictures were lost when the server crashed last weekend.
Anyway I wasn't very happy with them.
05-18-2004, 08:50 PM
I'm still searching the right atmosphere for the picture. So It's more likely a concept sketch... And sorry, I'm not totally decided to begin the painting process ;-(
Anyway thank you very much for your support.
05-18-2004, 10:25 PM
At last, I think I found a new development for one of my previous picture. Style was the point. I tried to use an old Painter release (i.e release 5) and used the air brushes over the lineart. I'll add details and of course a great hunting fox.
05-25-2004, 09:20 AM
There's some lovely sketches earlier in the thread... aprticularly of the Geese running.
05-25-2004, 05:13 PM
Well I still don't know were you'll get your awesome idea :)
hope your last try will be the one
05-31-2004, 10:10 PM
Coming back after some days taking care of my brand new baby Eliott. Those tiny little things ar every time expensive. I hope I can achieve my picture for the contest ;-)
06-01-2004, 12:59 AM

06-01-2004, 11:15 PM
The same in a darker version
Oh my word, this is really good. Keep it up!
06-02-2004, 04:07 AM
the darker version is my favorite
06-02-2004, 11:53 PM
CRAP ! This night I lost my most recent color pics.
06-02-2004, 11:55 PM

06-03-2004, 02:14 AM
The last colour version you posted is awesome, congrats, love the details and your characters are very dynamic. Excellent work bud, Keep it coming.

06-03-2004, 10:51 PM
06-03-2004, 10:58 PM
Vous n'êtes pas mal non plus : your own works are very very interesting.
Still looking good:thumbsup: Very dinamic
06-04-2004, 01:25 AM
Really funny image!!! Kind of like the expression of the fox at the left. Belle texture aussi!:)
06-04-2004, 02:03 AM
Completely crazy !:scream:
I like it !
VEry good work on textures !
Very funny...Bon boulot!!
06-04-2004, 10:34 AM
Hi Master Goli,Avatarr, 0-2, Kraull
it's a real pleasure to have you all visiting my thread.
06-07-2004, 11:33 PM
yet another concept/compo. You may think this guy doesn't know what to do... Right.
I'm just toying with Painter and a crappy little graphic tablet ;)
Anyway there's still 11 days before ultimate deadline...
06-08-2004, 10:43 AM
 Hey your concept is really looking good...
I like your colour WIP, but have to say that I prefer the latest visual as it is even more dynamic and the lighting really adds atmosphere.
11 days to go.....looks like your making the most of it...good luck which ever image you choose to go with:thumbsup:
06-09-2004, 11:20 PM
Thx Mr Freeman :-)
going on with this concept.
I agree with Freeman, this piece is even better than the previous.
Glad your sticking to it.
06-10-2004, 12:19 AM
I'll go on and finish this one... I hope :)
For the color "process" I'll be using some old 3D map designs from the Alienware challenge. This can help from getting cartoon-like picture which wouldn't suit my actual piece. And sorry for the original funny style I wanted before. And bye bye little foxies...
06-10-2004, 10:55 PM
Going to add some details to the woods
06-10-2004, 10:56 PM
I hope I'll have enough time to add details and effects to the machinery
06-10-2004, 10:58 PM
The whole piece
06-10-2004, 11:38 PM
:) Just gets better and better (havn't I already said that??)
The final composition looks great and textures combined with lighting really make a dramatic piece of work.
Trees and forests are definitely one of the hardest things to draw, so the fact you've chosen such an environment makes the piece even more impressive.
keep going and Good luck:applause:
06-11-2004, 01:29 AM
I only just discovered your entry and I'm glad I did coz it's awe inspiring stuff. :applause:
06-11-2004, 12:45 PM
Hi galaxian and Mr Freeman,
thakns a lot for your kind words and attention.
I'll try to keep the atmosphere.
I think i'll buy matches to stick them into my eyyes.... just to keep awake ;-)
May you have inspiration and a lot of coffee to keep going on.
06-11-2004, 06:50 PM
Waa..i like the way you go...very good work! Mood is EXCELLENT!
I wait for the next.
Keep up keep up it's great !
06-12-2004, 12:48 PM
I really like the direction this has taken... and that the environment makes up a lot of the composition. It's not 'just' a character/creature.
The mood and lighting is spot on.
06-13-2004, 12:26 AM
Hi goli and duddlebug, thx for supporting me. Here's a little update with some more details. Working with an old crappy version of Painter is really... "No more disk space" as it said. As a result I lost 2 hours work.
Sorry for the "bad english" but I feel a little angry with computers. I give up and go breeding goose and make cheese in Larzac, France. Bye.
06-13-2004, 01:07 AM
Yes, let's go to the Larzac....I'm agree with you....but please, don't bring your goose, especially this one..........hum, wait........wait.....after all......bring it............as a "sentinel", while we'll draw.................:D
btw.....it's better and better...i really like it, what a mood...........brrrrrrrrrrrrr......very impressive !
06-13-2004, 01:08 AM
I really like the composition of your final concept! Good play with the highlights and shadows! Depending on the colors you'll choose, I'm find your piece really promising! 6 days left... Dawn!!!
06-13-2004, 01:12 AM
"I'm find your piece" .... Il va vraiment falloir que j'apprenne mon anglais comme du monde un jour... Shame on me!
06-13-2004, 11:32 AM
Not sure with a colored version. Maybe a B&W picture would be more effective, like an old "analogique" shot.
I like your atmosphere. Very rich and spooky....
06-13-2004, 11:43 PM
Last picture before my HD crashed.
Have to ... krhschh...
06-13-2004, 11:55 PM
dude.... hard drive crash ... so very sorry , I'd be destroying
lots of inanimate objects by now if i were you.
stoopid 'puter gotta work n dats it .
I just wish u well cause i can't do no more
06-14-2004, 12:01 AM
oh no! It was looking really good. I liked the color version actually. Really nice lighting. So your HD crashed? Like kaplut? DId you lose your whole image to where you cant finish, or have to start from scratch? argh!! I cant even imagine how upset you must be right now, but hopefully you can salvage something from it.
06-15-2004, 11:40 AM
Arrrghhhh... Back again.I bought a new hard drive. And at last found a not too old version of my picture.
06-15-2004, 11:47 AM
 Much Thanks to Squibbit & Feeesh.
Squibbit : " I'd be destroying
lots of inanimate objects by now if i were you."... DONE. Nothing but my computer remains safe around me. Cooooooool.
Have to enhance picture now... detail...colours... and sleep some hours.
And praise that Maxtor hard drive are much better than IBM. ;-)
this blue composition is really beautifull, the mood of mystery, kind of fairy tale like, i like the lights, atmosphere of magic forest, really nice concept, congratulations!:applause:
06-15-2004, 03:10 PM
Thx ioio. Here's an enhanced version with blue lighting.
06-15-2004, 10:31 PM
06-15-2004, 10:35 PM
Some more details
06-15-2004, 10:46 PM
I'm still wondering wether if should keep it in monochromatic or polychrome.
Advises are welcome ;-)
06-15-2004, 10:59 PM
Maybe just some sogt touch of color  ...?
It's nice my friend, very nice...very very gooood mood.
Have a good painting !
06-15-2004, 11:06 PM
Personnaly i like the 4th...for the terror......
The 1 is more "magical-mysterious" maybe a more subtul mood than the 4th...
It depend of what you want...but, when i see your characters i think the 1 is the most effective.....'cause your characters have a fantasy look...it is a mysterious forest.......a tale.(une fable, un conte...)..
Well, that's what i think..
Anyway it's a great work, but i've already said that !:D
Cheers and have a good paint again..
06-15-2004, 11:28 PM
Waaahh goli's coming twice at night on my own thread. Raaah lovely.:arteest:
I may finally choose the 4rth (orange/sepia) and add some blue light in the background...
Errr... when you have finished your work (and won the grand prize ;-p) will you sell your old one (with all your sweat, and grunge,... ?) you have so much admirers who would kill to posess it.
06-16-2004, 12:05 AM
Just a very small update, try to add some soft touches of color.
06-16-2004, 03:08 AM
Good choice on color. I agree with Goli. I'm sorry I missed this one for a bit. It's really looking good.
06-16-2004, 08:56 AM
   (what can i say else ?)
06-16-2004, 11:51 PM
At last I choose to show it as an old snapshot. I'll post the last last last definitive picture tomorrow.
Thanks to all friends and visitors of this thread. And best of the best luck to all.
l'important, c'est de participer... Lao Tseu Coubertin ;-)
06-17-2004, 12:47 AM
Fantastic.......very good taste.
06-17-2004, 05:51 AM
06-17-2004, 11:48 PM
Finally the K-Goose will be one with its environment. Its artificial guts taking its food from the surrounding trees.
06-17-2004, 11:52 PM
Made some adjustements, like artificial guts.
ephez, sideache, cabertevon, Empy, Paul Davidson : thank you very much.
Wishing u the best luck in judging :applause:

06-21-2004, 04:51 PM
Thank u all, I'm glad to have visitors.
Love the lighting of your pic, very nice indeed.
06-21-2004, 05:08 PM
C:Boulot_MANUCGNETWORKS1606200455214_43244_4Some close ups if you wish to see them.
06-21-2004, 05:12 PM
I hope the old snapshot style won't be repulsive for judging.
It seems that it's not allowed to add sample pictures after the wip is finished.
06-21-2004, 10:23 PM
Nice artwork.Really like this.Top 10 on my list.
I' m still impressed of your work spacesnail. It's magical, mysterious, kind of fairy tale like. I like youor sense of taste and the mood you create in your work.
06-23-2004, 02:18 AM
Very very much thanks. In the future, I'll keep on working this way.
About your own work, it's a shame I didn't see it before.... Well you know : final rush, trying to keep eyes wide open... Anyway, after visting your thread, I must say you did a very nice job. Especially with the textures.
