 good job, i really like the mood.

Nice attention to detail. Well done!
I wonder about the streaking on the ground, the vertical streaking... seems strange.
Also, the wall at the top of the image, that is catching all the light
does not seem to be bouncing any light, which makes the adjacent, rounded wall look kinda funny where the meet at the top. Do you know what I mean?
Anyhow these are just nitpicks for a really outstanding image!

Excellent work! I really like the window at the top of the image. But the wall to the right of it seems to have a little stretching in the texture map. Also the handle bars on the bike and the metal pipe on the left look a little out of place. The concrete looks great though!
04-09-2004, 03:41 PM
Nice image...did you use the burn tool in photoshop to add some dirt to the image.I only ask because there seem to be some dark splotches about the image that look layed on...rather than rendered in.
I like that one  Awesome textures
What render you used ?
I really like the mood of your image!

great mood. The stones on the ground are disturbing to me though. They look like waves somehow :) Like you used a nurbs plane for them (not wrong to do so but don't make me see it ;) ) for the rest it's maybe a little grey, but that's really everything I could find.
04-09-2004, 04:59 PM
this is ....sssooo buttyful:cry:
the render and texture are ground breaking...
the atmosphire is really really great
the models are perfect...
and the idea is great....
very very ver nice job

Very nice! I like how the light looks a little flat in the picture and how the old guy looks like he's leaning to see around the wall and look at the camera. Great work!
04-09-2004, 05:11 PM
I love the mood and the textures....I do agree about the wall in the center bouncing light onto the rounded wall though.
Anyways this is one of my favs!
Keep it up!

Textures and lighting is great, if it wasn't for the guy in the blueish hue (he would really be much darker, at least partially in very dark shadows) I'd say its almost perfect.
Just as Z1K0B4 and AKAI mentioned, the parallel lines to the bottom right of the paving stones almost seems like a reflection of some sorts, depending on how you look at it... they must be scratches of some sort?
By the way, is the guy a photo or a 3d model?
What software did you use?
Bon travail! J'aime bien
04-09-2004, 06:43 PM
Very good job
04-09-2004, 06:49 PM
joli taff, je l'avais déja vu sur ton site.
juste, a mon sens, il manque un petit retour de lumiére solaire qui viendrais un peu contraster l'image, une source plus forte que les autres, oui bien qui sort de du hall d'escalier.
04-09-2004, 07:31 PM
great job ! it's awsome :)
04-09-2004, 07:54 PM
oh man~ the lighting and rendering is awesome, very stylish!!!!
04-09-2004, 08:19 PM
very good work! :)
but, i think the man is a bit flat, very nice render anyway
04-09-2004, 08:36 PM
Thank you for your feedback. I'm happy that you like it.
It made with 3dsmax5 and the scanline render.
Z1K0B4 : I know what you mean by the light on the top :((. May be I retouch it if I'm not so lazy ...
EdHarriss : I don't see where the map is stretching !!
Bredro1 : no I don't use the burn tool, I just add a layer with scratches
DAREONER : j'aime qu'une seule teinte prédomine :)) mais je vai y réfléchir ...

The air in the scene is too clean. not enough dust and fog.
The back of the scene should be out of focus.
04-09-2004, 10:10 PM
Amazing realism you manged to put into this image. I would like to se how you build it up eg. wires to show how detailed is elements in the front compared to the person in the back. Wonderful image.
04-09-2004, 10:37 PM
Good job man! looks great!
Kind of spooky
04-09-2004, 11:10 PM
I like the man in the end of the street, just feel mystery in the scene...may be is mad killer ? hehe :scream: kidding...
Anyway is nice scene to be set up whole..
great texturing and lighting
but i don't like the man in the background, doesn't looks like he belong to the scene:shrug:

Looking VERY good, i love moody pictures like these. However, i think you should remove the guy, he doesnt seems to fit this picture in ideas or in technical forms.

Well I think that conceptually the old man is a VERY good detail. As someone mentioned earlier it makes it seem like you're taking a photograph in the type of place you'd expect a random person to pop out of knowhere and look at you and what you're doing, either if its out of curiosity or suspicion.
I'll agree with you that the way he is put in the scene is not technically correct...
04-10-2004, 01:45 AM
why the reflections? other than that its great - just rid yourself of those reflections, unless it rained...in that case there should be some occasional puddles, etc..
04-10-2004, 04:39 AM
It's very cool, but for me the dark sandwitch board is too dark and very sharp compared with the other features especially against the rounded cobblestones, and maybe positioned so that it attracts too much attention. Maybe if it was moved further to the left it wouldn't be so prominent.
Also the guy looks rather ghostly and also seems not connected well to the scene.
Other than that it is very good, love the textures and the choise of colour. The chipping off of the wall is a nice touch, also love the curtains in the window.
04-10-2004, 05:47 AM
There are some light lines on the road and pavement coming straight to the camera that are not natural. Seems like something that needs fixing. Nice texturing and lighting overal.
04-10-2004, 08:34 AM
Honestly, i feel the only thing that needs tweaked is the man in the bkg. To me his color range really doesn't match the rest of the image perfectly. He looks like he was comped in there, it's minor, but i'd say there's a very mild seperation between him and the rest of the image
but yes, other than that it's really nice.
04-10-2004, 08:43 AM
looks pretty tight. can you show us some wires please?
04-10-2004, 08:56 AM
Incredible good colours, I really like them. Also, the moood, such well done in this piece. But as looking at this composition, my eyes are coming upwards, instead to this guy further away (because I guess it's him who should be spotted first right?). But if you intended to keep him as a mistery guy, someone who is looking at you and you don't realize that in the first moment, this is quite okay, but his pose should be more misterious. I think that he should be more lying against the wall or something. Also, why not trying to put heavy rain in this scene? Huh?

Great Texturing job
04-10-2004, 02:23 PM
I like it~:applause:
04-10-2004, 04:36 PM
Awesome, like it a lot
04-10-2004, 05:14 PM
Noce job on the texturing and I also think that the guys doesn't belong there. I also get the impression that it is a billboard guy.
Maybe a little fog a the back
04-10-2004, 05:52 PM
i think i saw this one when it was a WIP. Awesome image :)
04-10-2004, 07:41 PM
Good!I like it's coulor~
04-10-2004, 08:30 PM
Nice image. The only thing that looks off to me is the man in the back. He looks like he is cut out from a piece of card board.
that guy looks a bit "2D" other than that :D

Love the textures on the walls... And I like the fact that you've added the man standing the background, looking right at us! Really helps pull me in the scene. :bounce:

07-01-2004, 07:43 AM
Pretty good work.... altho I think it should be darker more toward ground level.
07-07-2004, 12:02 AM
Very good work, congratulations, only one thing, the left wall and the right one need a bit of more light, I think. but yhe work is great.
07-07-2004, 06:22 PM
nice work, I'm really feeling the atmosphere the image projects. The walls could use a tiny bit of lightning--overall looking great
07-07-2004, 07:20 PM
