Hi all,

I'm new to 3D and I've been following the character rigging tutorial in the Max 6 help file. I'm up to the 'Rigging Wrist Twist' part in 'Creating Complexed Character Rigs'.

I added a float script to the x rotation of wrist 03 (the wrist bone closest to the hand) and typed in the script from the tutorial. When I click Evaluate, it gives me the value 0.0 in the Result field which (according to the tutorial) means the script was entered correctly.

When I set autoTwist to 100 and rotate the HandCTRL helper around it's X axis, wrist 03 dosen't follow it.

the wristTwist custom attribute works fine. The file keeps crashing every 5 to 10 minutes too !

All replies are apreciated

Hiya,

I did that tutorial myself also a while ago and found that there was an error in the tutorial.

Donno if u have the same prob as me, but check this thread out: http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=131534

There's an error in one of the lines of the float script.

I still have to report this to discreet.

Hope this helps.

Simcon,

Thanks alot!

I see the problem now, thanks for the link.

In the 'Scripting Rotations' section of that tutorial, it breaks down the different script lines and explains what they do.

It says to use the script line: twist = rotEuler.z ; but asks you to enter, twist = degToRad rotEuler.z ; later on.

Does a faulty rig cause Max to crash repeatedly? I can save the file on my hd or cd but not on my zip.
