Hi I'm Adam,
Kinda new to this form or any form other than the lightwave one. I actually didn’t have lightwave I just liked their form hehe, I couldn’t find a cinema 4d form any where. well now I did and Im here to tell you I suck and need help with some basic organic modeling im doing. My major problem is the guy looks like a balloon and I cant change him without messing other things up. Also I cannot add simple small details to the mesh, such as a belly button, without making the structure of the mesh look wrong. Could someone give me some hints on how to improve him, be specific because Im new to this and don’t understand a whole lot :).

--Thanks, Adam

I'm liking it so far, very stylised, but the mid section is a little straight compared to the rest. get a gead and som feet in there and maybe I'll be able to say some more, also if you are planning on animating this, look at how some of your joints are formed like the shouders, they aren't really done in an anotomical way which means that you will run into problems later when animating.

Best example I have now of knowing your anatomy, is the new Lilo and stitch book which has a section all on how they created Stitch's anatomy they even scientifically explain how he is able to pull his two extra arms into his body (though they forgot to explain about the claws.)

so if you want to add little details like belly button and so i 'd suggest that you subdivide your mesh once more. so you have more power over details. then your model won't look that static then. and pay attention on not making it totally symmetrical-for sure in the beginning-that's ok but later on when it isn't mirrored any more kill a bit of the symetri. sorry for my bad english-but that's hard to explain for me though!
so good luck. post your updates also so we can see what you might improve.
so on...

So far, very interesting. I think you will find that when you add detail, you often have to tweek the new detail to fit the form you made earlier.

Im still confused a bit but so Im just messing with it learning the boundaries to everything. I twisted the mesh a bit in the mid rift to get a better look to it also started on the head and am currently working on the feet and improving the shoulder / arm area. Thanks for all your help : )

have you tried the Meissie tutorial?

It's on the Maxon site under Project Based Tutorials.
