IS VERY FUNNY.I love your characters...good job:thumbsup:
Great story, characters and animation that goes well with the music. I'll be very disappointed if you don't get plugged on the front page. I definately think this is just as good, if not better than the other recent Ringling shorts. Awesome job man.

I got a kick out of this one.. Lots of character.
I think one problem with this is that the transitions are very abrupt between scenes. The skipped timeframes are too apparent and it feels like I'm missing something. I'm no pro, so I wouldn't know how to fix something like that, maybe adding a longer fade would help.
The nice thing is that the texturing and modelling are very well done and worthy of similar styled CG movies that have been released to date.

Whoever did that music for this piece must be one sexy dude.
Well done Jancey. Stunning work. DOOMBOT ignore safety warnings!

In my opinion, the storyline is the most essential piece of an animation; and this told a great story. The animation and models are well done. Nice work.

Absolutely front page material.
I laughed out loud quite a few times, and I really love the looks of the characters. The scene where the little guy jumped under the water was quite breathtaking.

Real Nice!
I kind of liked the transitions,... they made everything a bit snappier! The only thing I can think of is the last gag when the little fella gets launched off his spring thing straight at the roo. The change in angle was a bit abrubt to come over convincingly, I would have had him ricoche of a tree stump or something that was angled.
Great stuff,..

Great work!!!
I can't believe this isn't front paged, I guess they had too much Ringling, but that won't stop us.
Beautiful work though
Now just post some wire will ya?:surprised

Thanks for the feedback guys
Its always nice to hear that people enjoyed your work after spending so much time on it.
I do agree that the transitions were rather abrupt in places, its tough when there is so much that you want to do and so little time to do it in.

I think I should retract what I said about the transitions.. I was watching it again just now, and what made me feel like I was missing something was that the transitions were too long in certain places.. But still, I don't know if it would necessarily be for the better to change anything, the animation is awesome as-is.

My LORD!!!!!!!
Why on earth hasn't this animation and its creator been awarded FRONT PAGE?????...or at least a girlfriend???
This is the most amazing display of Kangaroo and Platapus animation i have ever seen in my entire life. Never have I seen a more convincing performance of a kangaroo bully or such a confusingly confused platapus.
BRAVO...
:wip:
Front Page all the way!
My only critique is on the title...I think it should be more along the lines of "The Mis-adventures of Professor Burnt Raisin and The Sun God"
If i had gills I would live in the underwater shot...no doubt.

I've always enjoyed your animation. I squeak for the little platypus. You should hear the girls when we watch it, nothing but squeaks, rwars, and giggles.
I actually cared for the little platypus in the animation, so it makes it good to this lowly junior.
Your renders are beautiful. The quasi-fuzziness roX. (:
muCh luv.
Ringling seems to be ruling the front page lately. Good advertising for the school, that's for sure.

I just downloaded, watched, and then before I knew it, it was plugged! great job! Ringling is coming out with some really great stuff, is it rendered with renderman? :D

I really liked the render style and underwater parts especially. You get to see the little platypus? shine while swimming. Very nice indeed.
You have some great timing moments like when the little guy gets hit on the chin and then skyrockets to the tree branch.
The music isn't bad at all, but it does seem to overpower the piece. Sound was probably your least concern, however, I think this short would work great with some nice sound effects here and there. Bumps and zings, zooms and splashes, underwater bubbles and boings. Maybe something you could add in the future...though I'm sure you're sick of working on this.
Overall, really really nice. I've been following Ringling "thesis's" since 1996 and they just keep getting better and better. From rendering to animation to story. Great stuff.

Thanks alot.
Im really pleased with all the work my classmates have done this year. It was really a privledge to be able to work with such talented people
Actually the whole piece was straight MAYA renders. All the textures were hand painted in photoshop and some color correction done in the comp in SHAKE.

Cute characters and nice story, some of the rendering works brilliantly, for example when the platypus is flying towards the kangaroo. Not quite sure about the amount of incidence on the platypus on land, but underwater he looks great. Congrats

excellant - although i think whats letting it down is the sound - not the music itself just the quality - it doesnt sound like it was recorded professionaly but rather on a 4 track - also sound effects would be nice too
Animation wise - Brilliant though

Hey Jance,
All those late endless hours seem to pay off in the end. Love the lighting, especially on those underwater shots. Your dedication to your work is inspiring. Deh!
Ringling rocks!!! Special thanks to all faculty and students (past and present) who inspire us all to continue producing amazing work.

Yeah. I did the sound. We used an electric/accoustic because we could get the electric guitar to sound right. But I plan on re-recording it so it sounds a little more professionally done. I am shamed.

Please tell me/explain to me or write a tutorial on your shaders for the characters. I assume its some derivative velvet shader- I just love how they look so soft/cuddly without the use of actual fur! I would REALLY like to know how you created it- a tutorial would rule!
Well done. Well done.:applause:

The transition when the platypus saves the kangaroo is a bit abrupt. The underwater part seems cut off too soon.
Also, you didn't mention who did character modeling in your credits.
Great stuff, though, I enjoyed it.

Nice job. At first I was a little disappointed because for my next animation I was planning something similar (having a bouncy sphere teaching a cube to jump), but you did such great justice to the idea that I am motivated to work hard and try to reach the bar that you set so high..

The underwater piece should be just 1 or 2 seconds longer but apart from that I think this animation rules

Impressive stuff!! This doesn't look like students work at all! Seeing this kind of work makes me really ashamed of my own work.
I especially like the fact that it's not only great from a technical perspective, but also just a great cartoon. Great storytelling, humorous, ... Show this to a six year old kid who knows NOTHING of computer graphics, and he will like it too!
Great characters too, especially the facial expressions. (i really like the platypus)
Keep up the good work!!!
