View Full Version : Environment: The Shadow Over Innsmouth
Olmirad 04-05-2004, 12:17 AM Hi all,
I wanted to do something else this weekend... Started this model friday night and finished it today.
I got an inspiration from H.P. Lovecraft's writings. I tried to capture a gloomy and dark mood.
Modeled and rendered in 3dsmax, post processing + textures created in Adobe Photoshop CS.
Constructive C+C Welcome!
Here's the image:

Excellent atmospherics -- not quite as decayed-looking as my idea of Innsmouth -- now you just need something creepy peering out an upper window.:)
Wow, you've certainly managed to capture a creepy ambience and mood. Not the sort of place I'd like to be that time of night. I love it, first class work!

damn... what's just the thing I 've thought first time I saw...
the problem... is the contents edition of this site.... is quite queer if not ridiculus (at least in this case..) ... I wanna be really polemic  .... I 've seen four starts rates for works that deserve maybe one star just for the big work... and incredible works like this one going down to the pages.... and they're not opinions or different tastes... I'm speaking about unquestionable technical features.
once again, great work @Olmirad !!

Yeah, I agree francesca. There does seem to be quite a lot of really good art that slips by without any recognition which is quite sad. Especially when there is as much attention to detail as this picture. Anyway, once again, top notch work and worth of the front page in my opinion!

Very nice indeed. I do feel like the moon is too isolated compositionally. It would help to take some of that bright hue used in the moon, and show reflection in the puddles on the ground, and maybe spread some of that hightlight also on the building facade (there is some light there, but it could use some more) this would help unify the image, and help the building stand out against the background.
Anyhow, well done!

It looks great. The only thing that strikes me initially is that the pavement/cobblestone appears perfectly flat in the right foreground. I don't know if this is under water or just the way Max treated it, but it looks a bit weird.
