Hi Folks!

I have to do some simple animationa and I think Characte Studio will make it fast, although I don't like the way it walks with footsteps ;) . Anyway, I don't have time to do freeforma animation, so let's me explain: my character have to walk, stop, open a door, walk, stop, grab a box, walk then leave the box in another room. Basically this is what I have to do but in several different situations, that's why I'm using CS with Footsteps.
For me, the best way is to first animate all his trajectories of walk and still, adjust the keys in the track view to make him stop and start walking again after a while, but to avoid strange behaviors I have to select all the footsteps and deactivate all and activate back again. This destroy any freeform animation but make him behave the right way. That's why I'm animating all his walking and still with the footsteps firts and then I'll do the freeform animation to grab the box, open the door and things like this.
This is my first real job with CS and Footsteps besides studying and freeform animation and I would like to know if this is the fastest way to do what I want. Any other tips from someone else would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

You could use "footstep mode" to create the walk cycle. Then use the "motion flow editor" to blend that with your freeform animations.

Wow man!! Thanks for the tip! I can't believe I didn't think about it! That's a great idea and it's helping me a lot.
BTW, the Motion Flow is one of the greatest things Character Studio have IMHO. ;)

I don't know if someone it's interested in this topic but anyway... ;)
I found that the best way to work with these kind of tasks it's using layers, now I hava the original layer to make my character walk and in another layer I make him do things like open door, grab the box, and all the other stuffs. Working with this I can always change the footsteps that it won't destoy my freeform animation.
Cheers!
