View Full Version : Characters: Brian, Edge ::WARNING::OFFENSIVE::

Ok you've made it past the warning, no bitching about offensive content now.
I'm sure most of you will be ok with this, and be mature enough to understand this doesn't represent my views or opinions. It's merely a character.
I was asked to make some dark characters for a short film about a modern day neo-nazi cult. There were some specifics (the cuts, tatoos) but the rest was up to me.
Brians fullbody render isnt the best, I just wanted it to get done quick for my site. The head render is of better quality and was re-rendered after.

A few wires
as you can see all the cuts were modeled.
Also started the third that I have to make. Natasha, a sexy, assassin. Her skin shader and lighting suck, but you get the idea :P
ALL characters were rigged by the lovely Liseelulu here in the lightwave forum. Thanks again!!!

Oaaah Pi ! These are GORGEOUS :buttrock:
Lot's of power in them !
The "content" doesn't bother me, mean that's somehow a reality.
And, if we ever have to think this as unacceptable, then we should also remove "America history X" from the video clubs...
Back to the subject, this is 5 stars from me, for the quality, the technical one, AND the artistic one :D

Yeah I love them 2...your work just gets better and better!
...5 stars from me!

They are awesome Pi!
Natasha will be perfect when you fix her skin. No doubt you will.
Havenīt seen "edge" this complete before, and he is great. The shaved head works damn nice. Beutiful render also.
As I have said before, the scars on Brian are not 100%. They work much better on edge. How about using triangles in the ends of the cuts instead of quads? The problem is obviously that they are too wide (and "rounded off") at the ends IMHO.
Over all, great stuff though! Love the extended nails on edge. Nice and handyl feature... gotta get me some of those :p
 Not at all offended... although your new avatar kind of freaks me out a bit :D . Looks like its gonna be pretty violent. The only thing that I noticed (and I am by no means an expert on this topic) is that your swastika (spell?), you know, the nazi symbol thingy, is facing the wrong direction on the one dudes' neck and on the forhead of two of the 3 closeups. Is it intentional, mirrored image or what? Nice modeling of the details btw.

Oooorw maan, they totally rock!
04-02-2004, 12:54 PM
damn dude! These are awesome! I love your style.
I think some of the poses can have better deformation in the shoulder areas, but I'm sure you'll fix that up.
keep up the good work buddy.:bounce: :buttrock:

very nice work PI.
The one with the tattoo on its forehead reminds of charles manson.

PS - love the assassin so far! :)

Like most of you work....I like it. Looking forward to seeing more.
04-02-2004, 02:52 PM
Holy crap, those are GOOD.
I have absolutely no crits. I just want to see more.
I love to just sit and watch you model.
Do you use UVs maps and procedurals when texturing?
04-02-2004, 02:55 PM
Pi, are these just personal projects or for something commercial? I really like the characters....especially Natasha.
I wanna whip out an ak and headshot that dude with the schwastika (sp?) on his head. It's a perfect target! :P Good job on them. Just wondering how do you do your texturing?
Nice concepts
One thing, be sure to apply the correct suastica (spl?), in one way itīs the nazi symbol, the other way is actually something completly diferent, i even think itīs an old chinese symbol that represents peace, i cant recall where i saw this, it was a long time ago, but i remembered that it had completly opposite meanings :p

These characters are really well modeled, Pi. They exude a tremendous amount of personality, as well. Veeeery dark. I like them.
04-02-2004, 04:27 PM
Good job as always!

piSong, very nice work - actually, Natasha's skin shader looks really good to me - it has an almost waxy SSS look about it which is good. Maybe a bit more subtlety on the procedural but it's almost right on, in my opinion. Thanks again for sharing! :)

Wow those guys are pretty creepy. Great work. You have a very unique style that I really love!
I'm not a neo-nazi, but the swastika pattern used in history look like the one on the girl's hip. The other ones on the forehead and stuff are backwards, like they are flipped horizontally. My only crit.
04-02-2004, 04:59 PM
The skin is a combination of both. For certain things image maps were needed, the rest is procedurals.
Glad you likst it, I might post it and other characters in the finished gallery once Natasha is finished :buttrock:

these models look sweet. very detailed. nice job on them.
Those are some of the best optomised models I've seen in ages, such detail with so little geometry.
Great work

I am TOTALLY offended. I don't care what you put in the title. Offensive.
My skill set is no where close to yours, how dare you post this work to offend my lack of creative efforts.
Great Work
