View Full Version : Combine and Keep Respective Stacks?
In Max 6 is there any way to combine two different mesh objects and keep their respective stacks for editing? And add modifiers on top of the compound object like weld vertices for instance? Can't believe we can't do this...it would be so insanely useful for character setups.
And why are Subds still ridiculously slow?

I think Boolean does this, sort of. Last time I used it I could access the Operands, then see/edit their original stacks (I think, can't recall, it's been a long time).
But in my experience modifier stacks are very fragile. They have a habit of breaking continuity at the least-opportune times. I like to just save off versions of the model with modifiers intact, then resetXform/collapse and move on to the next major task (weighting/rigging/whatever).

The boolean approach will work as long as you don't
change the vertex count/order in the operands.
