hi all...
i'm working on an animation in maya and wud like to take the whole project into max for final render, textures and lights....

just wanted to know -

does the FBX plug....help in getting my data as it is from maya to max... with the animation....camera details........rig........facials......

and what wud be its limitations.......

by downloading the fbx pluginss you will get a pdf-sheet too. in this sheet you see ALL the limitations which are existing, when exporting between max and maya etc.
they are too maya options and "could-be-errors" so that you have to try it for yourself if itīs working.

usually i got only some problems when transfering datas between the 3d-applications... so you shouldnīt await that everything is working at the first try... as usual ;)

hi thanks for the info....

but did u happen to try a character with a facial animation....export from maya to max.....?

i do not want to modify the animation in max.....nor do i want the rig.........its ok if the animation is baked someway in maya ...and exported to max...
all i want to do in max is....fx....light.....render....

no i didnīt exported face anim until now in my scenes.

what you should be aware is exporting constraints and ik etc. there you will get troubles for sure. itīs the best way to bake ALL of your animation before exporting out of maya.

normally i should ask, why you didnīt render in maya, but this would take this discussion into off-topic ;) you know... the same old discussion max vs. maya ;)

I really would not export to max just for texturing and rendering. simply because of the fact that you always lose something in exporting to other programs. Its alot easier to just stick with maya the whole way through. you will save yourself alot of agrivation.:D
