View Full Version : Particles Won't Render

I figured out how to render all your basic particles through the hardware renderer, but I can only get the blobs working when it comes to the software. I'm searched several tutorials regarding rendering clouds and tubes, but nothing helps. When I render these, all I get is a black screen with an alpha channel. Can someone give me a quick and easy rundown on how to render at least one of these? Greatly appreciated.

Hmm, there's no real trick to it or anything. You should be able to just create some particles, choose Cloud or Tubes as the type, then render!

Which version of Maya do you have? And are you using Maya's standard renderer or Mental Ray?

It's a standard software renderer. I don't have Mental Ray.

Here's my process:

-Create object
-Attach Emitter
-Select Particles, Change to Clouds/Tubes
-Add Light
-Turn on Raytrace
-Render
-I get nothing but alpha and a black screen.

I checked a picture through another program, and apparently all it did was render out tiny black points. This is seriously a pain in the butt.

can you post that scene with your particle object so we can take a look at ?

Wait - the problem seems to have fixed itself somehow.

Sorry about that - but I'll let you know if the problem persists. Things only ever seem to work after I tell someone they aren't.

Ahhh, Chauncey's 14th Rule of Graphics strikes again!
