View Full Version : default prefs
Technofreak 04-01-2004, 06:29 PM hello, im new to max and im wondering if there is a way to make the view port configuration dependant on ui preferences and not dependant on a saved scene,
for example the brakets on selected objects are saved in individual files and not the ui prefs,,,is there a way to change
this to be saved every time max opens a new scene??
same thing for field of view to be default at say 35 instead of 45
any help is appreciated
thx

Yes, true to its distant AutoCAD roots, 3dsmax provides a template file mechanism which lets you customize all parameters that are scene-sticky (incl. the viewport configuration).
Basically, you can change the settings the way you like them and save the empty (or even not empty) scene as MAXSTART.MAX in your \Scenes directory.
Next time you restart or use File>Reset, the file will be loaded to provide you with a default starting point.
Cheers,
Bobo
