I am converting from 3ds max to Maya 5, and I can't find a few tools that are necessities in Max in Maya. Where do I find the tools for dividing and turning edges in Maya 5? Where are the tools for welding vertices together? How do you perform a Boolean operation in Maya 5? How do you Attach one object to another in Maya?
Are there any books or web sites that make the conversion from Max to Maya a little clearer?

1: dividing edges can be done with the Split poly tool under Edit Polygons.
2: Weld Verticies - Edit Polygons > Weld Verticies, You can set the tolerance in the options box or from the channel bar.
3: Boolean - Polygons Boolean. Go into the options box for union intersection etc. I forget which one is A and B, the first or second one chosen.
4: Combine - Polygons menu Combine. Just select the objects you want and hit Combine.
things are essentially the same, they just have different names.
