thats a pretty cool beast.
i think the area around the eyes and the back of the left shoulder could use a little work.
other than that. pretty cool

ah c trop barre ton truc la!!
j'a.d.o.r.e.
a+!
So u .::STRIKE::.z Back!!!! lol!!! wow! massive creature man.........very good work as ever!:applause:

Merci ! thx !

Happy to see you here ,great beast ,j ai hate de voir le reste

That pose it really nice, only crit is that you might wanna smooth out your poly topology a little more.
Good stuff

Great beast strike. It looks like a cross between a bull and a gorrilla. Very cool concept, and a good start on the modeling.
superbe concept strike :)

Well here's the main idea of the concept, the beast will haul a kinda big thing... héhé... I will let you discover it later...

Very interesting concept. It is not only a simply ugly baddass beast, there is something really sad in it´s body and face expression.
Keep up the good work.

This is what makes Srikes work so great.
Stike, you seem to be able to treat the 3d medium more like a clay substance than most. your work is irregular, but it stands out soo much from the standard smooth Sub-Div charaacter.
Keep doing what it is you do Strike:thumbsup:
rolhionjs
07-11-2002, 10:18 AM
Wow, thx for all your great comments guys !
About the irregularities, that's my wish (like Chico said) to create something unusual than the other meshes. I work sometimes like a sculpture, and the way it is right now makes you think of a clay modeling. That's not really usual, and maybe disconcerting, but that's the vision i want to give to this piece, and i hope you'll keep going seeing it ;)
I think for myself that this kinda of change for a mesh is maybe "weird" but why not change sometimes ? :)
I'll post a wireframe later of the main thing. Thank you all ! :)

First off all, nice model, the "clay" style is actually quite unique.
My comment is just this (I hope it hasn't been said before):
and giving the wagon another form too.
That might be a good idea, because I don't really see the use in the wagon as it is now. Maybe if you attached a plow (a really big and heavy one ;) ) or someting, it would have a better use. :D

really nice work strike, I like the overhall shape of your beast and itts burden.. on cool thing to do would be to move the left arm more in the body axis so we can feel the weight ..try to do the same pose by yourself, you'll fall for sure!!! ( im not saying that youare shaped like this ;) )
yop strike !

I thought about adding rear wheels and it would give this result :
http://www.designpicture.com/images3Dversion/july_chariot.gif
What do you think of the idea ? I mean with only 2 wheels, the canon seems to be unstable, and will probably fall back... so just wondering... help needed...
Joril
07-14-2002, 01:20 AM
Hmm, I'd go with the 4 wheels, 2 looks to instable.
If you would go with 2, I suggest you make the cannon stand up, you know, erect.
Hmm, I'd also make the area where it is resting on larger, one bump on the road and the cannon tips over.
Poor beast, the whole thing looks damn heavy.
just a little edit
Is the cannon shooting ovale cannonballs?
ZrO-1
07-14-2002, 01:27 AM
Is that a cannon the beast is pulling? If so all you have to do is move the two wheels back to the end of the cart and re-enforce the supports that the beast is holding/strapped to.
hypercube
07-14-2002, 01:32 AM
This is getting more and more interesting as you go..
4 wheels, definitely..as heavy as that cannon seems it would definitely tip and lift the beast up..looks to have a hard enough time pulling it without holding it up as well. I think pointing it upwards might be a good idea either way though, since it would pound him with recoil from firing..or is this cannon just being transported? I agree it needs more cart under it as well no matter what though.
rolhionjs
07-14-2002, 01:41 AM
hmmm... my idea was just the cannon is being transported. I think if i keep only 2 wheels pulled back, the main piece will lost a part of its massive appearance, even if i renforce the holding stuffs to the beast and hiring it up.
In other way, puting 2 more wheels will add to this massive appearance, and will change nothing to the actual position and to the mass. Maybe i'm wrong...
The sure thing is that beast is just here to transport this cannon from a point to another, and has no matter to battle in any kind. So... still wondering...
joril : in fact the main cannon will be more a kinda big laser blaster, so the hole will be different ;) I have a ton of details to add to this blaaaassttt :)
Fedron
07-14-2002, 02:23 AM
I agree with the 2 wheel eleccion. 4 is not so original. It's true too about the bad actual balance. But i love the way the beast is a little inside or between the 2 giant wheels. So i will keep the original configuration and only move the cannon just over the wheels axis. Maybe your will have to move it up a little to avoid the driver place. And for the holding stuff remember that they have 2 use, the pulling use AND the stabilisation use ones the canon is deployed. Well, like all transportables canons. Think in that for further mods.
Hope this help you.
Cheers.

pascal_blanche
07-14-2002, 04:38 AM
I would keep 2 wels too (more original).. and add maybe a little third one for the balance..
rolhionjs
07-14-2002, 11:31 AM
ok... so i think i'm gonna keep only two and maybe 3 (i'ill test it Pascal), but just to a render to show you the 4 wheels version :

Thanks erilaz, Hiko :) , and rex !
Well i think i found the solution for the burden :
I reduced the lenght of the cannon, so like that, the main burden seems to be stable in movement. As it is now, i can just keep the 2 wheels, and like on this last render, i will add a 3rd movable wheel, which will be working only to stabilise the cannon before shooting. I'll add wood parts near the wheels to evit the back move when it will shot.

You're going to make the cannon shoot horizonatally? The cannon ball won't go all to far like that.
I don't know about the balance, the cannon is not above the axis of the wheels, and with a cannon that massive, and a beast that near to the axis, I think the whole thing will work as a lever and lift your beast into the air.
The creature btw, seems to be designed to lean on it's arms.
I think a good fix would be to move the axis backwards.

Nice! i really like the detail you have put in so far. I do have a suggestion also and that would be to move the beast farther out from the wagon-cannon cart thing so his back legs can be seen:) It would also help balance his load so he wouldnt get lifted up into the air
this is my fav at this time - very nice style - the anatomy of the hand
is too humanoid in my eyes - if he use the hand to move forward the skeleton deform with the evolution but :applause: this is my fav

Nice composition! Both the BoB and the carriage look fantastic!
The support for the cannon could do with some detailing (a bit boxy) and the beast could be a metre or so further ahead of the wheels, other than that I am still speechless and admiring every pixel...

Well in fact i just did this test for fun under photoshop, with textures layers and from the last blue render i did. It was just to vision what could be the later use of this piece, and help texturing later by puting some woods or skin textures and giving it a way of old thing... like a painting or drawing :) ...
