Hi Forum,

revisionfx just released version 3 of their ReelSmart MotionBlur plugin for AE and Combustion. http://www.revisionfx.com/mblur.htm Now it supports external motion vector sources.

I think this is very interesting as you can get very good and correct MB results very quickly. All that is needed now is a plugin for C4D (probably a post effect) that encodes the internal motion vectors within a RGB image file. It would be great, if someone is interested in developing such a plugin. I fear that my C++ skills aren't advanced enough yet, as I never did a shader or post effect so far. A shader for Mental Ray and XSI and some further information can be found here: http://www.alamaison.fr/3d/lm_2DMV/lm_2DMV.htm

cheers mnu

RPF supports Velocity vector data... would this be accesible to the motionblur plugin in AFX?

motion vector isn't given as an option to output with the cinema one (as far as i can see).

You're right, it's not listed in the options... strange.

hi again, nice that you're interested in this stuff, as I think it would be a big time saver.

@thorn

this was my first idea, too. But unfortunately cinema doesn't export the motion vectors to RLA and RPF formats as 3DSmax does. With the introduction of VMB I hoped that they have adressed this but as far as I can see nothing has changed.

@mdme_sadie

it really would be highly appreciated if you knock something up :-) If I can help in any way I will. What do you think, will it be very difficult? Is it possible to acces the motion vectors generated by VMB or do you have to compute them manually. To me it seems to be the biggest problem that the vectors relate to pixels, not to objects, and, at the moment, I have no idea how to compute these.

well, thanx again for your interest, cheers mnu

oh, the post effect is done already, however i don't have any reelsmart products, so it'll take a little while to beta test that i'm outputing the right information.

Hi mdme_sadie,

that's incredible news. Did you really write it yesterday evening? Unbelievable! If you want I may try it out for you as they have the ReelSmart products at the agency I'm working for at the moment, I think.

Or is there a demo of ReelSmartMB available at revisionfx?

Thanx for your work, cheers mnu

Well, if you install the ReelSmartMB without a key it runs in demo mode.

Peter Litwinowicz is apparently the guy at Re:VisionFX to contact about getting info. He's in SF (Sadie), and he's said in other forums that he's very interested in getting apps to integrate better with RSMB. Try a post at the Reel Smart forum at the Cow. -govinda
