The Contest
This contest is for 2D & 3D artists to work in collaboration towards a finished character model. The theme, "evolution" describes the process of developing a character concept towards a finished 3D maquette. Entries are not required to depict "evolution", this is an open-ended challenge. Any character design (flying pig, dancing toothpaste, death robot, barbarian snail, sci-fi thong babe, etc.) is acceptable.
See the cyborg project thread (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19292&perpage=15&highlight=cyborg%20minichallenge&pagenumber=1) for an example of a previous collaboration contest which this contest is based upon.
The Rules
It is important for participants to read all of the rules and review specifications on 3DArtToPart.com (http://www.3darttopart.com/modeling%20info.php) before starting on their entries. Failure to follow the rules may lead to disqualification from final judging.
READ ALL THE RULES HERE AND SPECIFICATIONS REGARDING MODELLING FOR 3DArtToPart! (I can't stress this enough!)
Entries must be a character. Genre & style is at the discretion of the artists. Keep in mind that the final result must be suitable for creation into a 3D maquette by 3DArtToPart.com.
2D & 3D entries must be submitted to this thread (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=134883) together. It's up to you to decide between your team who will post the final images (3D artists may want to assume this task since the 2D art should be finished prior to their completion). Each entry must have a 2D & 3D image submission (see below for more info).
There must be a unique 2D/3D artist collaboration for each entry. For example: Bob (a 2D artist) & John (a 3D artist) submit an entry. Bob and John are not allowed to work together on another entry. However Bob is allowed to collaborate with another 3D artist for a second entry. John is allowed to collaborate with another 2D artist for a second entry.
- Artists can enter as many times as they would like as long as the above rule is followed.
- 2D & 3D work can not be done by the same artist on a submission.
WIP threads should be started by 2D artists in the Collaborative Team Projects forum.
- WIP thread titles for this contest should begin with "Evolution:" followed by whatever you feel is appropriate or is going to attract 3D artists to your concepts.
- 3D artists can post their WIP images within the 2D artist's thread.
- Multiple 3D artists can be posting within the same 2D thread.
- 2D artists who have multiple entries should post all of their concepts within the same thread.
- 3D artists can choose any available 2D concept to model.
Failure to submit your entry correctly will disqualify you and your team mate from final judging.
The deadline for this contest is June 1, 2004 12:00am PST. All entries must be posted in this thread (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=134883). Two image collages are required for each entry (one 2D and one 3D image collage).

Each entry should include the screennames of each artist who worked on the entry.
