Hi,

I've changed this post a bit, and I'll now be adding a different X-Men character every chance I get. So, keep coming back to see more and more drawings...if you're into that kind of thing.

I'm drawing these using my new Wacom Intous 2 and Photoshop.
And for reference, I'm taking pictures of myself and my friends/co-workers.
Once I'm done with all the characters I feel like drawing I'm hoping to pick the best ones to color, so input on that would be great as well.

Here are the images:

Beast, White Queen, Professor X, Psylocke Below......

.......Next to come: Cyclops
Let me know what you all think.
Any suggestions would be cool as well.

peace

The first one is very nice - the pose and facial expression really make it seem like wolverine, however, i think he's a little too skinny to be wolverine - maybe just a little more bulk (muscle wise) would bring out his persona more on paper.

Your beast drawing is drawn very well, but since beast is a superstrength hero (along with agility), maybe he should be bigger. Also, maybe you should try a different hairstyle than the one on wolverine.

But very well drawn on the whole. these are just my opinions.

Thanks for the comments people.
I agree that these versions of the X-Men are a little more "realistic" proportionally speaking. I'll probably redu all of the characters once I'm done with the first phase, and add a lot more mass, sex-appeal, and coolness.

But until then, here's the latest creation, Emma Frost, the White Queen!

HieSpike> The anatomy is pretty good, you have the right mucels there. I love Wolverines hand. It's spot on. There is power in that pose. Your work is good, but what jumps out as me is the tons and tons of the lines you have for a simple stroke. This leads me to believe that you're not confident in your line. Work on drawing each line once and not "pencil masturbateing". It will speed up your work and push your drawings to the next level.

While Logan and Hank have a lot of charater in their faces, Miss Emma's eyes seem a bit dead. You should change the shape of the eye so that they sweep up.. Check out what Adam hughes does:

Or countless other artists. There are things to do to make a 2d pencil image's eyes feel more alive. Good work and keep drawing!

'pencil masturbating' eh? So, is that a technical term? :)

The wolverine looks good to me. I don't especially like the skinny beast. The Emma Frost looks very dead in comparison to the emotion of the first two drawings.

Color the wolverine, that could be very cool as a finished piece.

Hey,

Thanks for the comments.
I agree that some of my lines are excessive, but you are probably right in saying that it is due to a lack of confidence about the lines. I'm hoping that I get better and better with physical anatomy and I can clean those lines up for the final paintings (photoshop paintings).
And thanks for the link...but I never liked the way Wonder Woman looked, so I can't relate.

And here is my drawing for today...Prof. X
crits and coms welcome..

I tried to make it a bit more intense, since thats what I'm hearing you guys like about the Wolvy drawing.

very cool poses! my only comment is like a previous one. your line should stay consistant. The faces don't seem to match up with the bodies; it as if they're drawn by two different people. The first wolverene pic looks really great! keep posting the drawings.
