This modeling just a practice.I use two weeks to model it,but it not finish yet. Maybe I'll but some textures on it later.

I love it!

Really good job...

I'm trying to model a couple sets for a short movie I'm making and have found out how hard it is... so I appreciate all the details and objects you modeled in yours...

I love the tone of the room... really cool.

This is something I dont get... do you learn this in school or something... to model and texture separately... I see it as a big whole... the first primitive I put in the scene, I splat a material on it (well almost).

Doing it in stages feels so... oldschool to me.

It's like the "traditional" way of producing music, i.e. first write the song, then arrange it (decide what plays where), then record each track ("tracking", as it is called) and then on a separate day mix it, often in a completely different studio.... vs. the "modern" way of producing music that I practice in which the writing, arranging, and mixing, is one cohesive whole, i.e. when the song is written, it's also arranged, and 90% mixed already....

... but maybe I'm nuts? :D

I think your nuts because most people model then texture afterwards:thumbsup:

this scene looks great. i like the style. the ammount of detail on the objects is very nice. is that a displacement map for the ground? the ammount of beveling is excelent. rarely are bevels used enough.

what would really solidify the scene is some good lighting. right now, your shadows look pretty grainy. i'd suggest spending the time to do great lighting before you think about textures.

and masterzap, scenes generaly are done in stages. professional work is pretty much never done all at once.

Excellent Greco - some images are just fine without textures, usually they are images of just a model ala the Challenge. But in this case - it's great as is !!

Sorry man, you are nuts:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Model first, then its wise to get a good start on the lighting. once you are that far then youll get a good idea of what needs what texture, and how much (Time and effort) you need to put into that texture.

Though Im the la person who should speak about economical texturing managment...But I can tell you I have wasted alot of time textureing stuff that didnt need it in the long run.

Greco: very nice. These wee projects can really help out your modeling skills. Have you concdered entrering the Challenge..?

Nice work and keep it up.

Wow - pretty cool!

I would very much like to see that one with textures.
It's got a very fairy-tale look, which is quite appealing :)

What render was used?

Thanks for all. Actually when I model this house I want to make it look more really than this. Now you can see the roof is all the same, and then the curtain is not good.So I think I'll modify the model before I put texture on it.
JFrench:I have no use displacement map for the ground,I make a box and split it and extrude that faces ,and finally use smooth, you will see what happen.Try it ,it a secret skill:)

I like it very much. I wait for the textures.

p.s I really want to live in it with my lover. so I want you create a moon out of the window, and plant some trees and grasses around the room. ok!!!

I can tell you I have wasted alot of time textureing stuff that didnt need it in the long run.

And how much time did you waste modeling stuff that was superfluous or lost once the textures were there?

:)

I dunno, I just like to at least slap something that is wood-ish on where I want wood in the end... heck sometimes the material choice dictates (to me) in which direction to take the modelling.

But I admit, I am a complete amateur at this so I should prolly shut the f#¤)(/&ck up :)

Besides I come from old old old school of software never meant for modelling being used for modelling (i.e. AutoCAD and such) and you have to put all the beauty into the texturing work :)

Muhahaha, yea okay youve got me...Im just insane, and possibly the last person to talk about economical modeling and texuring techniques:surprised

Yea IM slowly learning what to texture and what not to...through experiance. Im constantly getting shot for putting to much of either into something...:scream:

This looks great! True some of the detail will be lost once the texturing is in place but it is still some great modeling.

Maybe I am being restrictive since myfirst computer had only 32kB of RAM. Yes kB, not MB.

I still wrote a raytracer for it tho. :)

So I don't like texturing....bite me!

Coooool work by the way!

It looks really cool and i bet it will look even better when it's textured etc.

The shot reminds me of simon the sorcerer, maybe it was when you where to get the mahogany at the woodcutters place.
I don't know, did you got any inspiration from that (Perhaps simon the sorcerer is not so big in china ehh)?

Anyway, nice work

Wow that is excellent. The attention to detail on all of the surfaces makes the set come alive. Please post another image when this is textured, it's going to look awesome

Great picture..

I'm a newbie and i never was good at texturing (an probably will never be).. but i can tell ya now that lloking at a textureless picture tells me nothin! I need texture to get the hang of things, and so I can never create a good picure before texturing it.. (Anyone who can get my poin: don't read any further. to the rest of you: In short, I need to put a texture map, simple or advanced, to my models before I can complete the scene)

Very nice model though...

Greco,

thorughly impressed.

You mentioned the technique you used on the floor. Were they individual boxes merged together somehow? and did you use the same technique on the chimney?

Klaymen:Thanks a lot. I argee with your point.;)
Are3D:here is the wireframe shot. It's a none smooth model . I think it will be more useful than the smooth one, right?
Thoth:I did it in maya.
Bilbana:ha..ha...,no I didi not see anything about simon the sorcerer.
