Here's one of em.

The base elements I did in 3dsmax and then went over with the art history brush, then I kinda just went from there in Photoshop. Took me a day to do the 3d, and I've spent the past 6 hours photoshopping it. Pretty messy right now. Its the above ground portion of the city. Here is the underground portion-

This is another background I just so happened to be working on at the time and I think it fits with the category. For this I just did pencil scanned in and photoshopped it. Basically the cavernous ghetto of an emense Roman/New York style city. This took me 3 weeks. Lots of fine tuning on the color oddly enough.
Thankfully the art institute of seattle spring break is now, so I'll probably finish it all in time.
