Now that GTA3 is out for XBox there is no real reason to get a PS2.

XBox is complete with hard drive, internet connections, 5.1 audio, HDTV capabilities, etc. You are good to go out of the box (so to speak) and just need Live to play on-line.

For ME I think the PS2

1) It will play PS1 Games
2) It has a larger selection of games that my 4 Yearold can play
3) I have a 4 year old, and PS1 Games will play on it.

Yeah I remember RobertoOrtiz posting plans for a price drop about a week or so ago.
For me I'm a big Rpg fan and PS2 happens to have alot of the series I like to play.

it's free to play online once you have the adapter and a game... also, more available games because of the backwards compatability... uh also, for old timers like me, the ps2 is way easier to control than xbox.. the xbox just has WAY too many buttons....

I love my ps2... just wait til ps3 hits the market.

It's a good price indeed, and I hate the fact I may have to buy one to play Halo2 if I feel the need. But I have a PS2, and am really looking forward to see the PS3. I think the XBOX is a good machine, as stated earlier there are less games for it, but it hardly matters to me because I prefer PC games, and rarely play my PS2 anymore because PC gaming RuElz them all!!!!!!

if your going to buy one, look at the game library... that is really what makes a system.

also, be ready to buy new versions of each system in the next couple years, 2005 and 06 look to be the year of XboxNext, PS3, and the N5.

Microsoft is releasing a special collectors edition Xbox with Halo packed in for $169.99. The cool thing is the case is a translucent green along with the controller. A DVD showing Halo2 is included, as well. It ships April 13th to pre-orders only. I gotta find $170 laying around the house.

thanks bent, i would of taken that from you. w/ the price going down, i see a lot of people buying the xbox just to mod and put in their family room [if its not already]. having a multimedia playa' for under 149 smackers is kinda nice.

i wasn't expecting this drop.
