View Full Version : Beast of Burden - character - DaveMcd
davemcd 07-09-2002, 07:39 AM First time joining the challenges here. I figured if i actually did some concepts it would force me to pull my finger out and actually make the damn thing.
I'm not sure how to work this msg board so i'll post em in 3 different posts with an explanation.
concept #1: Giant Dung Beetle. Used to push its masters pile of trash / belongings around a desert world. Master sits atop a weight balance platform to keep it level with a periscope to see over the ball.

second take on a dung beetle creature... although this guy isnt a beetle at all. In fact he's kind of fleshy. He still pushes the ball about though with his hind quarters which have a kind of backwards facing hand.

And lastly.... Nothing to do with the first couple. He's kind of a swine / rhino thing with a large snout for sniffing out fungi. He'd be trailing a medium sized cart which id full of the crop. He's a bit of a passive dopey creature.

Should be cool Dave, I think Idea no2 is the best. cant wait to see the first 3d bits come to life, which one are you going to choose?

I was thinking of doing the third one (the truffler). I might change my mind when i sit down in front of Max (when i get the time). I just think he has a bit more personality. Plus a lot of people are doing lots of scary looking beasties, i thought i might do a docile one.

I like concept #1 myself, but if you've seen my thread then you know I'm a little biased ;)

Yeah i have seen your ZrO-1. Nice Arthropod you've got happening there. I saw someone else was doing a Scarab beetle as well which was putting me off a bit...
I may start some prelim modelling on a few ideas and see which ones are taking my fancy.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the other scarab in the challenge. You'll have to excuse me right now. It's 4:30 am here and I've been working all night, so my brain is a bit scrambled.
So in that case I'll say #2 as well. :p
