I have a text layer that i want to just change from one word to another.
AE 6 does this find but it is so jarring..anyone know how I can make a smoother fade transistion this effect.

is there any other forums where I can get help on this.

What effect exactly are you trying to accomplish?

I have the word "challenge" changing into "story"

using the source text feature which let animate the word over time. But its not gradually..just jarring. Just "holding" to the last frame" and then change.
i want a smooth gradual effect.

Hi, are you trying to achieve some kind of morph between the words? If not then a simple fade in - fade out between 2 layers of text should work. The morph would seem interesting though. Wonder how one would do that? Both the words "CHALLENGE" and "STORY" have a different number of alphabets in them. Maybe you'd have to cheat with some kind of animated mask; that is after converting the text to outlines. I remember a friend of mine once showing me a similar effect in Flash.

Yeah man. Wish there was some kinda plugin that could do it. Even Digital Fusion's Text+ tool did this before after effects introduced it. But i couldnt get the same effect i saw in flash. Anyways i guess i need to get the 'Flash boys' to do it and then import it AE. AE's Text is Vector based now isnt it? So why dont we see some flash like features??

Oh well AE 7.0 ;)
