Hello everyone!
Thought I could give it a try in creating a decent image. It is my first post on CGtalk, please, be tolerant, and excuse my english. Anyway, good luck to all of you.

Here's my sketch, very ugly in my opinion, made very quickly. Rough like all my sketches, it gives me the possibility to alter the design later on. There is some story and meaning behind it, I'll write it down in details soon. It is just my guess that on thursday I'll manage to post first stages of modelling.

Modelling the organic parts causes me great problems and are not worth showing for now. Instead, here's the background; projector map, film grain, specular bloom. The concept behind the image will be posted by tomorrow.

Here follows the ideological background of Mechawaste:

History is a cycle. Man acts are in a compulsory spiral; He is forced to spin around his perpetual, everlasting problems, thriving for answers to matters questioned since the writing of the Bible. The duality of Man; due to his transcendental aspirations he is ever in conflict - his bodily fragileness against his divine sparked mind.

History is recurrent. Imagine a derivative to dr Mengele. Blinded by the human abstract problem, man's bane. He thrives to solve the problem, assembling 'in the name of humanism': the ultimate solution of the duality matter. Implanting mechanical alterations so to eliminate the animality factor of a human common. Handicaping animal instincts, regulating impulses, urges, finally - emotions, marked as obsolete for a redesigned human being.

The image presents just one of the many prototypes, full of flaws, a forlorn not-human, not-artificial, biomechanical waste.

My computer has been crashing multiple times for the past two months and the constant reparing, system reinstallation etc. has consumed all the spare time. So it's quite obvious now that I won't be able to finish the project until deadline. Screw it, I want to finish it anyway.
Here's the model of the head without the mechanical parts. Hey, it is the first time I ever modelled a human head, I'm just a beginner....

The same in viewport view; as can be seen - box modelling. It is the first time modelled a head, I'm not quite satisfied with the result. Next to do - upper teeth, eyebrows, eyelashes, then the mechanical parts etc....

I think the head presents itself nice in the scene.

Hello! :D

I like your concept idea, the background story.. a wasted prototype ... nice !

the head You designed is interesting... little like Venican masks wchich I like...

..and I think You could do something more to explain the concept throught the illustration - maybe showing the whole prototype thrown, wasted on some junkyard (or maybe just thrown somewhere)? Its involves more work on the body (but id doesnt have to be human, right?)

I like this kind of dark ideas ! keep it coming :D

Dzieki :)
The junkeyard idea is fine, but actually it's to late to change in now. In the final image there will be a few elements indicating that the prototype is forlorn - the pipes in the lower front with one or more cackcroaches (karaluchy, tak sie to pisze?) and rust everywhere.

all the mechanical parts + the model of the flowing tears... don't know if it works with a transparent material, though.

This is the diffuse plate of the image - without the lighting etc. Looks awful, but I have no time (going away) after today to make it look better.

The lightning - I've posted this image before, but accidently marked it as "modeling" instead of "lighting". Ups

That's actually it... plus a specular render element which I will use when doing some post process.

Combined the image with the rendered separately specular render + a noise layer , because the in-Max film grain effect was hardly visible. Unfortunately the tear almost cannot be seen, ah well...

I don't like it. If not for the problems with my computer for a month... i would had more time to make it better. Instead, 70% of the image made in the last 2 days (nights). Dobra motywacja, zeby nastepne prace byly lepsze i lepsze...
