Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone had any personal experience with AMD vs INTEL strictly on a single-proc Maya dynamics basis. I'm using a dual 2.0 ghz Xeon box now and for single-thread in viewport particle solves it just isnt cutting it.

I was leaning towards a Shuttle SN85G4 with Athlon 64. Will there be any issues sticking a Quadro FX 1000 in there with a 240W power supply?

I don't even think that will boot with a 240W power supply. I'd put at the very least a 400W PSU in there. (ok, 350 at the very least.. 400 to be perfectly safe)

The shuttle systems do not allow you to put your own ps in.

I've built them before with Geforces but neverusing Quadros (which require a power lead).

Most of the new graphics cards require power leads, GeForce cards included. I've seen Radeon 9800s in shuttle systems so I don't think you'll have a problem.

We have 3 p4 3ghz shuttle boxes at work with Quadro 1000's in them and a gigabit ethernet card in the pci slot. They only have 1 hard drive in it though. They have been running fine for 3 months strait.
