Can you delete history on a character model after laying out the UVs? Will the projection history being gone screw it up?

it shouldnt cause any problems, provided there is nothing deforming the surface that you want to save. (eg. skinClusters, deformers ect)

if you are dealing with just a clean peice of geometry, there should be no problem at all,
