Really good work.
The only thing I'd say is that the women hands look bit weird.

I really like the softness and subtlety you used, in both characters. It instantly creates a mood - even without textures....great stuff.

nice work ether strong characture design. The female is really solid , the ork is also ,the only thing is his feet seem off but that could just be me. None the less awsome

Thanks for all the replies:)

koroko: These characters were originally made for a project at University, but I'm planning on using them in a short story and animating them in the future.

A few more images:

Great work, ether!

The orc bears a vague resemblance to one of Bay Raitt's characters from some years back. I'm curious to know if you're a fan of his design?

BTW, I think the hands (on both characters) are fantastic!

Outstanding, well thought out characters, including those at your website. The anatomy and style of the big guy in particular, is excellent.
Very inspiring.

amazing models, I realy like the look of them,
I was wondering what technique you used to create the hair for Ness and some of the other models on your site.
The work on your site is also very nice.

about ness's hand, I think the knuckels are a bit too sharp.
The way she's holding the bow also doesn't look right.
The back of the orc could also use a litle more muscle definition.

Hey, thanks everyone:)

Konyn: I use lofts to create the hair for my characters. And thanks for pointing out that the knuckles are too sharp on Ness's hands - I'm fixing that at the moment.

ZPitt: I'm using 3D Studio for both these characters, and Brazil to render them.

And here are wireframes of them both,

Very nice models....the only thing that I was wondering
about was the dramatic expression of the "orc",
his proportions (especially the legs) remind me of a balletdancer.
which gives him quite an elegant and noble appearance...

If this is what you were aiming at...cool

But if he's suppose to be a badass threatening character..
then I would try to exxagerate (spelling???) his heavy muscle
and bonestructure much more.....

This would help to give both characters a much more
antagonistic expression which would greatly improve their
expressive impact in storytellingm (and in my humble opinion,
even whithout any animation a model should already be
telling a story!)

cheers

Nice work, I like the at ease muscles , usually some tend to show them too much. the ork is great but i think his nails are a little ....
hmm..too feminin. The rest is fabulous work. ;)

Beautiful. I would like to refer to:
Very nice models....the only thing that I was wondering

I would like to disagree, because the standard image of an orc is a bulky heavy-boned dude. I like the legs and I do not think you should change them. They all look great, keep up the good work!

Beautiful design. However the neck area seems too thick to allow for the guy to look at his feet without bending over.

ether
01-31-2002, 03:58 AM
Thanks again:)

HBV-108: I use the subdivision modeling technique.

TheSymbol: Thanks for pointing that out, however I feel as though thats part of the style.

thirdeye: A balletdancer hey? :) Well, I did want to make him look different, but you just gave me some good ideas - thanks
